A group for Wisconsinites to meet and greet. We also welcome Wisconsinite friends and folks who have been here and love our state as we do. Remember if you don't have anything kind to say about our Midwest accent, best not to say anything at all:).

Thanks Susan. I'll definitely let you guys know when we plan our first meeting! Rose
Welcome and thank you, Rose. We can always use more resources from which to draw our strength. There used to be a group in Milwaukee but per the last contact, they are no longer meeting, and it seems to me that Dubuque is an easy drive from Madison via Hwy 151. Keep us posted if you have something coming up. ((Hugs)) Susan
I'm trying to spread the word of an NAAF support group I'm starting in Dubuque, Iowa (it's across the river from Southwest Wisconsin). From here the closest support groups are 3 hours away. So if Dubuque is closer to any Wisconsin Alopecians then support groups in Wisconsin or northern Illinois, please get a hold of me. Even if you just want to stop by. Thanks! Rose
When I first learned of this disease in my teens, it was a crushing blow that my greatest physical asset could be destroyed. Later when it became universalis and the eyebrows and eyelashes disappeared, I could have filled a book with names of people who repeated my earlier fears: How could one be losing that beautiful thick hair or those gorgeous eyelashes that were that one special attribute?
Fortunately, there are a lot of happy endings in the group. Some members will grow back that lost hair and others will find a beautiful new self image that has created a better person. In the meantime as you read some of the discussions and blogs, it should help with the current crisis. There's a lot of good medical information about the disease as well.
It's definitely a disease that takes a huge emotional toll with lots of tears but there's always hope and we're all here to help you cope with the daily struggles. Try to remember there are lots of us out there who are survivors...as you will be too! ((Hugs)) Susan
Hello!
thanks for the invite to join this group Susan. I've been dealing with AA for several months now and it is getting progressively worse. I get very emotional about it. I've always had thick, dark hair and never even knew a disease like this existed.
I just got the photos back and will see if any snow is in the photos. We did one part of the shoot outside of the person's home. She is in a very rural area. From what I saw it was pretty. The other portion of the shoot was in a car remodeling shop. Believe it or not, those photos are pretty neat.
but our snow is gone. I mean 47 degrees!!! It's kinda crazy that its that warm. not that I am complaining!
No snow in Madison, not that I miss it either; but, I know my great nieces and nephews would have appreciated at least enough for a snowman over the school break. It would also be nice to have some lakes and ponds stay frozen long enough for the ice skating. Then, there is the new goose down winter coat for the 30-below wind chills that isn't getting much use...but, again, no complaints:).
Did the snow improve the photoshoot?
Hope every one had a great holiday. I know some of us had no snow. But I am fine with that. ha ha. I was in Mosinee on Wednesday doing a photoshoot and they definately had snow.
