Thanks Nicole (:
It's strange--each morning I've awakened and gone to look in the mirror to see if it's actually real that I did it! :D
Ms. E what a wonderful way to celebrate your independence!!! I know that moment was life-changing for you. I have yet to walk out of my house with no hair. The skin on your head usually takes a while for it to blend with your face. Maybe like a few weeks, but it may be sooner for you because you will be exposed to the sun.
Hello Ladies (:
I joined AW 5 months ago and am just logging back in the first time since then. So I will be completing my profile and adding a picture shorly.
Yesterday in honor of "Independence" Day I finally went to the barber college and got the "shave". I've spent the day just getting use to just seeing myself in the mirror in preparation for going public; and gathering photos of African-American women wearing the shave.
I've been "warning" friends and acquaintances, most whom have been really positive. I know once I finally go out I'll be fine, but I'm going to need lots of support. One of the things which I'm anxious for is for the skin on my scalp to blend in with my face. Did anyone else have that initial experience and how long did it take without over exposure to the sun and sunburn? Today I actually put make-up on my head! :D
Also, if anyone is in the S.F. East or North Bay Area, I'd love to connect with some ladies.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Hello Ladies! Glad to be apart of this awesome group!
I so wish this group was in my area!!! I am so in need of connecting with other women face to face on a daily basis who are living with alopecia.
I am so happy I found this site. I am not alone. Thanks for allowing me to be a part .
