LHATL is a hot mess to the fullest. Joseline is in a class of her own. I have no pity for Mimi anymore because everything in right in her face, so she chooses to go through all the pain and grief Stevie J brings into her life. I can't wait to see Chrissy & Jim Jones show. That looks like it's going to be good.

My nails have started to be affected by Alopecia too. I think I just noticed it two weeks ago when I removed my accrylic nails after keeping them on way to long without touch up; now my nails show three bands: one where the accrylic was, one with healthy nail and one with bumps and a different color. I started using Essie nail polish that helps the nail to become stronger and it almost covers it up. I think I need to prepare myself that I will constantly wear nail polish or accrylics...I need to check
out this reality show i love reality :)

Brenda, I think that's all some doctors' know how to do is push medicine instead of truly investigating the problem. For example, my doctor didn't even really look at my nail. She glanced at it and told me to apply Ammonium Lactate Cream 12% twice a day. My nail looks pretty bad and I am still not sure what this cream is suppose to do. The cream is for dry, scaly and itchy skin.... Because of my doubt with the cream I went to Sally's Beauty Supply today to purchase the Nail Revitalizer Treatment that is for problem nails that are weak, split, cracked, thin, soft or peeling.

When dealing with an auto-immune disease it can be difficult to treat because the immune system is unpredictable. I was tested for lupus about six years ago and it was negative.

Jackie I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You your family are in my prayers.

About the Dermatologist...I went last Wednesday about my thumb nail because it look detiorated because of the alopecia. All my other nails are fine except my right thumb. Anyway we talked briefly about my hair and my doctor told me that she never had a patient with extensive hair loss like me. Of course that made feel alone, but I knew I wasn't alone. She was not able to prescribe anything for me that was safe to take. She tried to offer me some medicine for lupus patients but they had side affects that could damage my organs. There was no way I was going to accept a prescription to grow my hair back that will leave me with damaged organs. NO WAY! At the end, I wasted my copay and my time. I've decided to gather some info and visit some doctors to educate them on alopecia. Most of them seem to lack education about alopecia or have no interest in it.

BrendaW, I was told that when your hair starts coming back from alopecia, it comes back grey/platinum color. I have it too, but I have to shave because I still have spots were my hair will never grow back.

Thanks so much Angela :). Like you, I was made to feel insecure at an early age especially from some of my siblings. Yesterday, we celebrated my mom's 80th birthday. I have not seen a few of them in quite awhile. They all (9 sisters) pretty much liked the new look, with the exception of one who is the thorn in my side. She just sat in the corner staring while twirling the curls of her weave smh.

Yes! Ms. E that is a wonderful idea :).

Thank you SistersLivin! I also thank you immensely for this wonderful board!
