About Me:: Im almost 12 years old and i had alopecia when i was 3-ish and we put on cream and it went away.6 years later once again i was diagnosed with alopecia areata...the creams worked but my hair kept falling out so we accepted it and i just wore hats for a while.Then i went to The Mayo Clinic,but they didnt help AT ALL!!!! So now,we almost decided to get a freadom wig (maybe) so im going to check the place out as soon as my mom can drive (she recently had an operation on her leg..ouch!)

Hi Maya,

Yes I do have AT and yes I am wearing a Freedom Wig made right here in New Zealand but they are available around the world (but still made here in NZ) It is made from human hair and it is just awesome to wear. I have just got back from school camp and I wore it for 4 days in a row - sleeping, swimming in a river etc.

i have just started a new school as i am now a yr7, but only a few of my friends from my old school know that i wear a wig. when i was losing my hair people probably knew something was going on but know one said anything to me. i have great friend and family who support me when i need them. i was looking thru your photo's and it looks like you have great friends and family too :) what bout you? do many people no about your AA?

the down side is you have to shave your head to bald for these wigs :( no it's not itchy cause of the silcone cap that the vacuum part of the wig. not like the synthetic ones you can get.

umm ive never had a freedom wig b4 but i really like my new wig, its a synthetic wig, and its realy easy to take care of... basicly you just wash it and air dry it, what ive expierenced with the human hair wigs is that they are very hard to take care of, espically with washing.
do you wear a wig?

hey! so youre thinking about getting a freedom wig? I hear theyre great. Someone from my church has one and she really loves it and i want one really badly too. I just dont want to be so concious about my hair and just live life normally.

umm kinda, well when i shaved my head i realized i really had no hair left anyway, but now i love my shaved head, since its kinda long now, i put it on ponytails haha

Haha i listen to really weird musicc , & yes i do wear one. Uh, i'm not sure what kind i wear , but i wear one lol. My advice to you, Start wearing your wig in the summer, when you don't have school. So kids don't stare at you and and stuff, trust me i know from expierence (:

Fifth is veryyyy sukkish.....i hate it. my teacher is the worst...i dont like her very much bcuz my 4th grade tecaher was sooo nice and free spirited and i really miss that. she quit i literally cried i loved her so much. i go to the movies and dinner with her every once in awhile with my bffs melissa kelsey and jasmine. kelsey hasnt come yet but she will soon. You can go to Kelsey and Jasmine's page. Kelsey is the one and she has a trophie as a picture and umm jasmine is hispanic she has brown hair and her picture is her and her sis. her sis is smaller. hopefully u can comment on their page. i know this is a lot to read but read it and reply plzzzz!
