    Hi Jenn,

We usually go in Winnipeg before Christmas, so I will be sure to contact you before then. I see the Winnipeg Alopecia group is small so hopefully we can get other members. When I emailed a Winnipeg hairdresser about wigs and asked if she had alopecia clients she said yes, so maybe need to post signs in wig stores. Just a thought. Even though Isabella has discussed her hair loss with the school/groups, she still wants to see what her options are for wigs for special occasions.

    Thanks for replying so quickly!

    Hi Again,

Sorry, for all the emails but, just wanted to mention that my daughter has an appt in Winnipeg Dec 22nd. It is close to Christmas, but, I will send you the details of where we will stay just in case we can meet for coffee or dinner. We usually stay at the Canad Inn on Pembina so the kids can swim. If you have an something that you want me to email out, I do not mind helping out. I also have access to video conferencing so can connect like this. tks, Penny

Thank you!! He keeps me sane through all of this!
  • Erin

Hey! thanks for the comments, so this is late ha. And I would love more info on the Freedom wigs, that is great we can get them in MB now!
  • Pat

Hi Jen, thank you for that wonderful post you sent me, I really really appreciate it. I envy your ability to run...I was a runner for years, slowed down over the last 5 years but then I got another auto immune disease called polymyalgia rheumatica and now walking any distance is a big deal! Btw the pic of John and 'me' is actually him and my daughter but yes she does look like me :) Phuket was great, we really had a lovely time. Let us know how you go on that run!
  • Lori M

Helloooooooooo! Sooo you are the Canadian Rep.....Nice to meet you!

  • Erin

Hi! aw thanks for the kinds words!! Are you thinking of starting meetings?

  • Leslie Mader

I am excited for the vacuum but nervous too. I will get my gripper next week and i'm nervous about it also. Guess, i just want it to look like me and not too much contrast from my synthetic wig. I just don't want to draw attention if it looks too different. I will send pics of my gripper and vacuum when i get it.

  • Leslie Mader

I just need to trust the experts from Freedom and my rep. it's just nerve wracking when you spend so much money - and so, you want it to look just like "yourself" not like a "wig".
    Thanks for your positive comments.

  • Leslie Mader

thanks for the comment on my profile pic. so weird my sister is going thru chemo and losing her hair. she totally gets what i go thru except hers will come back.

Hi Jennifer! Thank you so much for talking to Jim @ CANAAF about my situation! I just emailed him (my mom was visiting for the past few days, so I didn't see your message until now).

I really appreciate the help and support!

And by the way, you are absolutely gorgeous! :)

    Thanks for your lovely comments.

Hi Jennifer, Thank you for the kind comment on my photo! I'm still getting used to the whole "vacuum" style wig.. Did it take you a long time to get adjusted? I can't seem to perfect the right fit on my head each time. It can be quite the struggle sometimes! Very frustrating, sometimes I can't even imagine having to move a lot in it or put a hat on because it would mess with the suction! Any advice you could give would be help SO much! Your hair looks amazing, im so jealous! Your photos are beautiful!

  • Jana

Thanks Jennifer! Would you be interested in comparing notes about how you are organizing in Winnipeg, with what we are doing in Vancouver? I have this vision - as I noted on the Canadian discussion board - of many of us from across the country, working together - and with CANAAF - to develop our local groups. : )

  • Cherry

Its so nice to know im not alone with this. Before I found out what I had I was just a mess. My husband was so helpful with all that was going on he came to all my appointments with me and help me though a lot. But its nice to know there are other people like me who know what I am going through and I like the fact that we can all help each other get through the hard times and laugh at all the good :) well I just heard the baby wake up so you have a great weekend and hopefully it will be a little warmer tomorrow

  • Marie

    Hi Jennifer!
Thank you for the warm welcome! I am definitely enjoying Winnipeg's amazing spring weather, and thank goodness it has come early! I honestly have no idea how i randomly just stumbled upon the group..or this website, but I think it's amazing that there is a support group out there..wish I knew about this earlier! Do you guys still meet once a month?

As for decorating skills, my mom would probably be the best person for that as I am nowhere compared to her skills..if you need a cake for your daughter's birthday we can definitely help you out (facebook.com/sugarbloomsandcakes).

  • BTB (John)

Hi Jenn not heard for awhile seems you doing Ok Pat and I are well or will be after I finish this Election on Saturday, although I have now been asked to run for local government, just seeing whats on offer. • Marilea

    Hi Jennifer,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! It has been such an emotional struggle these past few months and finally I have found a site where there are people who truly understand what my daughter and our family are going through. I hope to find a support group in Ottawa, Ontario and will keep looking.

    Take care,
    Marilea

  • noon

  • Sydne

Hi Jennifer, i'm so sorry its taken me this long to reply to you...busy busy! Thank you so much for your message. Do you have dates that you will be in the Toronto area? I'm really interested in the vacuum wigs becuase they're getting great reviews on the internet and i'd love something that looks realistic but also something that i don't have to adjust every 5 minutes! Is there any chance that you can give a roundabout cost of the hair pieces? I imagine they're expensive??

  • Suzie

Hi Jennifer, thank you so much for getting back to me it was a great help....iv been to see a lady today and hopefully things are going to start looking so much better.

Hi Jennifer ! I live in France, Paris area. I have AU. I'm 58 and lost all my hair (1st time) within less than a week last December. From what I read freedom wigs look great. Could you tell me what your wigs are called in French, please ? I looked up the Freedom Hair site but couldn't find any representatives in France... Could you find out for me please if there really aren't any ? Could you also give me an idea of the price ? Thanks a lot in advance for your reply. Have a good day.

  • Joy Anne

Thanks for the reply! Hope you are doing well! :)
  • Nicola

    Hi Jennifer!

Thanks for the tip on the Canadian group. I'll join for sure, once I find it!

  • youarebeautiful

Your hair looks nice. You are very beautiful and have a beautiful family. I see you are waterskiing--what are you wearing for water sports? I workout with a scarf, but wondered about other options. Thanks.

  • kristy bettes

    Thanks Jenn!

You are so beautiful!! I really enjoyed looking at your pics! You look so happy, but I know you have struggled just like any woman would that is losing her hair. Your wigs look amazing and so natural. You definitely have given me hope. :)

  • Gena

    Hi!
I'm not sure where exactly in Canada you are located (I'm in Montreal) but I was wondering how and where you got your freedom wig? IT looks great btw!! :)

  • Kaylee Mitchell

As a matter of fact I do, when did you work there?
  • Victoria Hughson

More inspiring would be women with AU  alopecia and don't feel the need for a wig, hat scarve. Just saying love yourself.

  • RAPUNZEL

More inspiring would be women helping women by selling wigs if they chose to wear them. Jennifer posted a pic of herself bald...gorgeous. But she has a choice how she wants to be how dare u attack her for that. U have a choice also and I don't see anywhere where she says that's wrong. It does not mean she doesn't love herself. I don't know her and neither do u what a huge assumption to make on anyone that someone who wears wigs or scarves does not love themselves. That is just a hurtful statement to make and I think you owe her an apology. Just saying.
  • RAPUNZEL

My last comment was meant for Victoria Hughson.
  • RAPUNZEL

    You bet!

    Hi,

Thank you for your message. Yes my message was previous to finding your information on this site. Happy to find you and learn about the vaccum wig :)

    Hi

    How are you?

I have a question from you...I see your photo and I understand that you have kids...Did they have any problem like us, or not?
Sorry about my question, I'm single but I want to know if I marry and have kids, they will have this problem or not

    Thank you

  • Danielle

You are beautiful!  Thank you for sharing your story.  I have had alopecia since I was 4 and I have not gotten to the place that you are.  Way to Go!  Your confidence is inspiring.

  • Ms Lori

So inspiring, I was 17 years old and I am now 50.
For so many years I use to try to hide it. And just in the past year I am very open about it. Infact my 5 year grand daughter was helping me wash my wigs....
I wished many years ago i would of started what you are doing now.
