About Me:
I'm a new york girl who ended up in north carolina for grad school. Studying urban and environmental planning. I love hiking and camping, traveling, learning about new music, exploring cities, public art and comedy. Also big on "saving the environment;" More specifically, I'm into local food movements, social justice, alternative economies, and promoting beautiful and livable public spaces and effective mass transit. Right now, I'm mostly just trying to finish grad school alive.

I've had alopecia areata since my senior year in high school and totalis for the past year or two. I've been wearing Alan Thomas dermafix wigs for about 8 years.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia totalis

I just happened upon this great blog post and article from "Creative Loafing" magazine about the lead MC from Atmosphere, a contemporary hip hop group, who talked about how alopecia affected his artistic career. I didn't find anything about it when I searched Alopecia World, so I figured I'd share it in my debut AW blog post :)

Here's his take, which I think is very poignant and hits on a key… Continue

Hi Audrey!
Welcome to the site! I've had aa for about 30 years and au for 20. It takes time, but eventually you will come to the place you want to be, with your alopecia. I wrote a book about it -- "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" and that has helped a lot of women. Anyway, I'm glad you're here!
