My nine-year-old daughter has alopecia. Last year, she had two spots that grew back. In October, she got two spots again. This week we noticed new spots. She has small spots that are just starting to be at all noticeable. She has handled it all very well. She also has hypothyroidism. Based on the last evaluation from the endocrynologist, she is doing really well and her mom is a little over anxious. : )

Hi, My name is Tracy and my daughter Amanda is almost 7. She has had alopecia since she was 4. She has had bald spots come and go in the past 3 yrs. I hope my daughter can write to your daughter. I am just glad that this website is available for anyone dealing with alopecia to know that they are not alone.
Hi Diane - My daughter, Julia, is 7 and also has some thyroid issues along with her AA that is rapidly becoming AT . Right now her antibodies are very high - she is currently on thyroid medication. As with your daughter, Julia is handling this better than me. We will keep you and your daughter in our prayers.
I would love to talk with your daughter! What is her email?? I will email her sometime! my moms email is skdicarlo@gmail.com and mine is tmdicarlo@gmail.com...i will email her or you email me!
Hi Diane, I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to Alopecia World. I have been living with Alopecia Areata since 1991 and know full well the struggle it can be. I look forward to getting to know you. Cheryl, Co-founder
Hi Diane. I am sorry this is happening to your beautiful daughter. It is a really difficult time. This happened to our daughter Nicole about 4 years ago when she was eight, she is now 12. Her hair loss began as AA and she is now pretty much AU and I have to say she copes remarkably well with the whole situation. I would luv for her to be friends with your daughter, however she is not very good at getting on the computer and talking to others about her Alopecia, I am not sure perhaps she just accepts it and is busy getting on with her life! I will encourage her to leave your daughter a message.
Take care, be proactive (as you already are just by being here and asking questions) and find out all the different things that would help your daughter fit in with her peers... there are lots out there believe me, I never knew half the stuff existed that we have sourced for Nicole before alopecia came along. If you need anything just message.
Luv Sharon
Welcome I am Lyndsey. I am 8 years old and have alopecia. I have been slowly losing mine since September. I go to the skin doctor on the 30th to see what he has to say. All my other tests came back fine. Good luck to your daughter.
