Alopecia areata + Pregnancy hormones

Posted on March 11, 2013 at 3:00pm 1 Comment

Between AA and hormones my hair is thinning out more and more everyday. I'm barely 6 weeks pregnant and I couldn't be happier over our newest addition to our family but already the hairloss from the changes in my body is noticeable. I have 3 spots of AA and now the thinning makes them harder to cover up. I'm worried of how bad it's going to get. The stress of my husband deploying again specially after being so close to losing him last time and having to give birth and care for a newborn and…

Deployment + Stress = More spots :(

Posted on March 22, 2012 at 5:55pm 2 Comments

So it's been a while since I've been here. My old spots were growing back and hair loss seemed to slow down. Life was nice.

Yesterday my husband (he's a Marine) deployed overseas for 7+ months. I thought I was taking it nicely, I got my crying out and done yesterday, and today I woke up with a positive attitude, but sure enough life just waits till I'm down to kick me a bit lower. I put my hair up to get some cleaning done around the house and bammm! there it is a biggo bald spot in…

So happy!

It's been almost 1 year since my hair started falling out, almost 10 months since I found my first stop and was diagnosed with Alopecia, and 6 months since I had my last shots on the spots. Since then my hair has been thinning but not as bad and its not really that noticeable. All my spots are now growing new hair, some longer than others. I'm just so happy that its coming back, its been a slow process but at least there's progress :) Just wanted to share my exciting progress with yall.

Here we go again :(

I hadn't been on here for a bit, I'd been trying not to think about it. I went ahead and got the shots in two of my spots nd they seemed to work, but now my hair is thinning again and I counted around six new spots. They're small now but that's how it all started. My scalp is so itchy and sensitive to the touch, when I take a shower clumps nd clumps fall out. Today I was even scared of brushing my hair cause I didn't want to see how much I'm losing. It's really upsetting me and no one… Continue

Hi, your story sounds like mine, last April 2010 my hairdresser found a nickle bald spot which progresses to 3 inches by 4 inches over 2 months before I stopped losing hair. Luckily for me it was in the back of my head and low so no one could really see it. Had 3 Months of no hair even with cortisone shots then it started growing again. Gave up the cortisone shots after the support group (and research) said they are not that good for you and started applying Squardic Acid which is OK to use per supprt group (from dermotologist). Hair is 70 percent grown in. Don't know if it will fall out somewhere else or maybe I'm done for awhile or for good? You just don't know with Alopecia. When you start to read the stories on Alopecia World you are going to see no 2 people with Alopecia Areata have the exact same thing happen to them. God Bless you as you grieve the loss of your hair and I will pray you lose a mimimum and it will grow back quickly.
