The secret is out!

I was initially going to keep alopecia a secret from everyone I worked with but it's been slowly seeping out. Shortly afterwards I ran into a woman I work with and didn't realize she wouldn't recognize me but I said hi anyways and kept walking. About five steps beyond her she turned and out came… Continue

TWO DAYS AGO

In the store (keep in mind I'm currently in a town of 12,000 people) I turned down an aisle (the one with asian/mexican foods) and came straight across another woman with alopecia (which I have never done in person before not even living in a city with millions). She was with her childern and (unlike me at that time in the morning) absolutely STUNNING! So what happened you're probably wondering by now...

Nothing ... I grabbed my nori and rice vinegar and continued on my… Continue

I am not alone!

It's so funny how God works - everything has its own time and only He knows when the time is right. God comes along and says "OK, you're ready to receive this change and grow." I don't always want these changes. And sometimes, I have been praying for them for years and wondered why they were taking so long to happen. My journey from AA to AU started at four. Bald spots and thinning were a part of my life pretty much every spring of my childhood. I had no idea though, that ALL the hair on my… Continue

Sometimes I Wonder

I'm all new to this, so forgive me for not know about how to do what and what means what, haha.

For the past five years I've wondered if there were actually people out there just like me, that felt and reacted to the things the same way I do. From time to time I've browsed different sites on the internet to try and find teen or kids sites for people with Alopecia, and I never could. For some reason two days ago it just randomly struck me to look in groups on myspace for anything having to… Continue

More interesting than your alopecia

When I think of my fiancée, Cheryl Carvery, I don’t think of alopecia areata.

I think of a friend that sticks closer than any sibling; a compassionate person whose heart and life are wide open to other alopecians and who volunteers at a veterans’ hospital; a fun and inquisitive person who loves to travel and workout; a phenomenal woman who showers me with such sweet affection that I call it “addictive love.”

In…
