Out of the mouths of babes- conversations with kids about alopecia :-)

I have had some great conversations with kids in the past 24 hours about my alopecia and wanted to share.

Last night I met 3 adorable kids, and this was my conversation with them:

Adorable little boy#1:" I thought youd have long hair" (he had been told about me and that I was going to babysit him and his siblings during a kirtan)

Me: "Nope, I dont have any hair"

ALB#1: "You have some."

Me: "Yes, I do"

ALB#1: "Why dont you have any hair?"

Update :-)

Well...it has been quite awhile since Ive written on here. Lots of growth, and lots of self love since.



Last July 2nd, while in the midst of a week of overnight pet sitting gigs, being very sleep deprived, I went outside with nothing on my head. I usually wore a wig or a bandana or something. Random stuff

I went out last night and had a great time- took myself to a local tea house and did their Friday night tea tasting. I sat at the bar across from a mirror, which at first thought was a bad idea, but I now see it wasnt. I have been becoming increasingly(as if I wasnt enough already!) self conscious about losing my eyebrows, my alopecia has turned from areata to totalis this time, I am losing hair everywhere, not just my head and a few places on my arms and legs.

Introduction

Hi there, I am Christine. I have had alopecia since 1998- my hairdresser noticed a small bald patch behind my right ear.In 3 years it progressed to me being fully bald on my head, and a couple small patches on my arms and legs.
