I have found my new favorite woman. Her name is Linda DiFronzo. She owns
Hair for You Salon in Arlington Heights, IL. If you remember, I was asking about what to do with wigs that were too big (because the petite wig selection is lacking!!). Well...let me introduce Linda. She owns her own salon that does everything! My mom thinks she is going to go to her to get her hair styled, colored, etc (she does not have alopecia). But, for the past 13 years, Linda worked in a salon that specialized in wigs. She just opened up her own salon and is amazing with wigs. She can do anything! She said that she wanted to open a salon that can do anything that a client wants. She said that she hates to go into a salon to ask for a style and the stylist to say...'oh, your hair won't do that'. She says that she wants to be able to do whatever is asked. And, I 100% believe that she can. She has a wig shop in her salon as well. I was able to try on other wigs (we bought one, but I'll get to that later :D) She took us to a private room, where she could alter my wig and the whole salon didn't have to see my bald head. She is really friendly and made us feel really welcome. While she was working on mine, her assistant brought me all kinds of other wigs to try on.
She took my wig (the red one) and custom fitted it to my head. It was really big..I had to tuck it under and roll the back up when I wore it. I had to wear a scarf or headband over the wig to hold it on. But, she altered it (like you would a pair of pants) and also spruced up the style. She cut out a lot of the bulk, so it doesn't look like a Texas Bouffant Beehive anymore. It doesn't dwarf my head anymore either. She charges $35 to alter a wig that is purchased from somewhere other than her salon...such a steal. She does amazing work!!!
While we were there, we decided on another wig that she had there. We loved the color and type so we bought it that day. She did the same thing with that wig. Altered it to fit my head, and cut it into the style that I wanted.
Linda took the time to make us feel comfortable. At no point did we feel rushed or like she had more clients to see other than us. Her salon is beautiful. She has everything you could ever need. In a word...amazing!
If you are anywhere near to (or far from) the area, I definitely recommend her for anything having to do with wigs. Seriously, she is amazing! She went WAY past our anticipations and expectations. I won't go anywhere else for wig services. Even when I'm back in Texas, I will wait until I come home to Chicago to see her with any of my wigs. Go to her website (link provided above) and check her out (there is another wig salon in arlinghton heights (which I have not been to) so make sure that you get 'Hair for You Salon'). She also has a permanent make-up artist, and a facial acupuncturist as part of her salon.
****Pictures of the wigs (as well as eyebrows and bobbi brown gel eyeliner) coming soon...as soon as I get new batteries for my camera*****
