Relationships are relationships -- regardless of our alopecia

Having a relationship with alopecia is no different from having relationship with hair.

We find someone who accepts our lack of hair, but everything else remains. We still have to battle through the process of merging 2 personalities, and me and rj are no different.

We have our good days, our bad days and the days that our relationship is just a struggle. It's all part of the package of loving and growing with someone.

I am not perfect and neither is rj, but I truly believe that we are meant for each other and I truly love him.

Yes, indeed, relationship building and constructive conflict management are relationship building and constructive conflict management, regardless. Or, as a philosopher might say, the good life and good relationship - i.e., the life worth livng and the love worth having - are no respecter of person; they demand of all who wish to fully enjoy them true depth of character, constancy, exceptional coping skills, and, thus, a real capacity to make the wisest and best choices. This is why I recently wrote in a blog tited "What a Difference a Good Head Makes" that our relationship, like all relationships, is far more a matter of what's going on in our heads than what is or is not on our heads. So, yes, alopecians, like the rest of humanity, should equip themselves for the highs and lows, joys and challenges, risks and rewards, "good days" and "bad days" of REALationships. This isn't a negative thing per se, but just part and parcel of what it means for imperfect folk to love each other for who they truly are. The real question is, is your (prospective) partner the perfect imperfect one for you? I wholeheartely believe that my partner is. :-)

WAIT A MINUTE...

You're not perfect...???...???...???

...OK - I need time to process...

lol - ok, in all seriousness! I see the love between the two of you and count myself blessed to watch your partnership blossom. You are good together... through the good and not-so-good. ((((hugs)))) to you both (in your own special personal hug kinda way)...
