A Brisbane Times news articled states:
“When Joanna Rowsell's right eyebrow disappeared 14 years ago, an event that only marked the beginning of hair loss all over her then nine-year-old body, she could never have imagined feeling good about the experience that completely threw her self-esteem and caused her to hide under hats and wigs.”
“On Saturday night in London, the same person stood before the world as she was crowned an Olympic world champion. At age 23, bald and bold, Rowsell had helped make history by being part of the first female team pursuit outfit to race at a Games - and in world record time to boot. She could not have been more proud of her sporting achievement. But she was equally proud to have realised it exactly the way she is.”
“I've realised now that I've got maybe a responsibility, And it's always going to be a part of me, so I may as well embrace it and hopefully inspire other girls”
I am trying to contact Joanna, so please share your well wishes. I hope she has the opportunity to see the support that she has among alopecians all over the world!

This is so wonderful! And, Joanna knows that she won on International Alopecia Day, which started with the help of Alopecia World! Check this out from a British article:
"Rowsell, who suffers from alopecia, said: “I got a tweet this morning telling me that it was International Alopecia Day and I thought it was a bit spooky that it fell on the same day as our final. If I can help people with alopecia then that is great — it is good to be able to raise awareness of it."

I hope you can get in touch with her. What an inspiration. I'd love to include a photo of her in my International Alopecia Day video. She really celebrated the Day!

Also mentioned in this Huffington Post article:
"And her win in the women's cycling team pursuit at the velodrome could not have come at a better time - it fell on International Alopecia Day which seeks to raise awareness of the condition.
She said a fan contacted her on Twitter this morning to tell her about the special day: "I thought 'wow, that's a bit spooky that our Olympic final is the same day'."
