On Tuesday Pick Me Up magazine paid for me to go to London to have a wig chosen and then cut by Trevor Sorbie (who does loads of great things for people with hairloss). I chose a human hair wig from Trendco very close to my natural colour and then he cut it after looking at a pic of my old hair and I love it. This wig is amazing. Not only is it cut really well but its actually real hair. I loved my synthetic wigs but then I got this one and its sounds silly but I love the way it goes wavy in the snow and I can blow dry it and stuff. I liked my snthetic wigs for changing them round and the ease of looking after them but I hadnt realised that I was really missing the 'getting ready' aspect of real hair. I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! I've never spent so much time in front of a mirror since getting alopecia!

yeh I got the wig for free but I think a real hair one from Trendco costs about £400 to £500 but they do some really great synthetic ones for around 80 that I've had before and they last really well and look very real.

That doesn't surprise me at all. I know of a few woman who liked the grooming process before alopecia so, they liked the fact that they could still comb, curl and style their hair after their alopecia. I on the other hand hated the doing my hair and most of the time, it ended up in a pony tail. That would probably explain my hairdo choice now ;) Be sure to post photo of the article when it is available. Good for you for raising awareness!
