Hey everyone!
Im new to this whole blogging thing, but thought i would give it a go! I have just discovered Alopecia world, its brilliant! Ive never known anyone else who suffers from alopecia so its great to see how many people are like me! I first got alopecia at the age of 11, it started as a small circular patch at the nape of my neck the summer before i started high school. This stress of high school led to the patch getting bigger until it was about 4 fingerlengths wide. I tried a huge number of things to help it, including acupuncture and a number of herbal remedies. This went on for months and my hair did grow back, very slowly, but it did grow back! However, as soon as that patch grew back another appeared, and at the moment its the worst its ever been. I have a patch just above my right ear, about the size of a small fist, and its still falling out! I have tried steroid creams (which stung so bad i couldnt carry on using them) And quite a few different oils. At the moment i am using an oil, although ive seen no effects yet! I definately think stress is the cause of my alopecia as it has always happened after stressful periods of my life (school, bullying, exams, parents seperating etc). I would love to speak to anyone who is a similar age to me and has similar experiences as me. Also if anyone has any success in treatments for alopecia areata it would be great to speak to you! Looking forward to speaking to other alopecians!
Becca!
