As another year begins, my thoughts are on moving forward. I don’t officially make resolutions but I do think of the past year and what changes I can make to improve my new year.
This year I’m going to continue working on three things:
Get off of auto-pilot. Try to do things a bit differently every day. For example, drive a different way to the store or anything that just makes me think before I act.
Be the change I want to see. Many times I think of the way I would like things to be but I don’t always take the initiative to make those things a reality. If I want to see family more, I have to make the phone calls, host the parties. If I want to be more mature, I have to make the hard decisions, take responsibility, speak up.
Be willing to stay in discomfort for a few more minutes: My natural tendency is to avoid discomfort, especially relational or emotional. If I feel a pull to avoid a situation, I am going to try to sit with it a bit longer rather than frantically try to avoid it.
Those are a few of my plans for 2014. What are some of the changes you would like to bring to fruition in 2014?
