Tired of seeing all those bald mannequins in the clothing stores and windows and thinking "Why do the fashion world and advertising media think FAKE bald women are so beautiful, but never use REAL bald women?" Maybe we can change that.

THIS IS THE START OF A REVOLUTION!

Step 1: Go to the mall to one of the many stores featuring bald mannequins. BE BALD (very important step).

Step 2: Put on the same outfit that the mannequin is wearing, or stay in your own fashionable outfit.

Step 3: Adopt the same pose as the mannequin.

Step 4: Have a friend or clerk take your photo posing next to the fake bald.

Step 5: Repeat in as many locations as you can!

Step 6: Also take a photo of yourself bald in a fashion shoot-type pose.

Step 7: POST THE PHOTOS on the Alopecia World group I'm starting, and/or on the Facebook page I just created. I'll make YouTube slide shows to share with the world when we have enough.

Here's one of my first images.

Thanks! I don't claim to have singly invented the concept (though I do remember thinking it the first time I saw bald mannequins after losing my hair). There have been some other photos posted in the past by bald women with mannequins. What I'm trying to do is kick it up a level and make it into a real "thing"! If we can get a lot of photos and put a YouTube of them together (including some flash mob events, if possible) maybe it would go viral, make the news...raise some damn consciousness out there among the hairy multitudes (and among advertizing execs and show biz people). ( ;-)

i love this idea. My boss has always said i look like a mannequin. Even when i had hair. I'm totally going to the mall this weekend to take pictures next to the mannequins. They have mannequin modeling for real at stores. Why couldn't I be one of the mannequins. My friend and i use to stand in the windows of the stores that were out of business at the mall my mom worked at when i was little. We would squeeze through the gate bars and stand as still as we could when people walked by. Im totally going to do this.
