hi has any one customised their wigs ? when ever i get a wig there is always some thing i dont like about it . i cut my own wigs thin them out add layers all learnt from the internet as i won1t go to a hairdresser as i have had to many ruined wigs. i also save old wigs that have maybe gone a bit thin on top and cut the wefts out and sew them into newer wigs that way u get highlights as well ; i also unpic the crowns of wigs and sew the crown of another wig in that may be i think looks better they last longer tooo becouse if the wig is lose n hair i just add sum more in you can do this with real hair or synthetic hair but i would nt mix the two hair types .

lol it is ha ha x
I used to wear a 3/4 fall with either a hat or a headband. It was made out of human hair. Once it started to thin out, I went to Sally's and bought more hair to add on. Once that hair started to frizz up, I just shortened it to shoulder-length. That thing lasted me more than 6 months and then my hair grew back enough to just wear hats so I tossed it.
The funny thing is, I sewed the wefts on with my sewing machine with zigzag stitch! LOL.
This is just the kind of conversation I needed to be a part of. I have grown very comfortable with wearing wigs. I've always thought it to be the thing to do, being low maintenance, no maintenance. That doesn't meaning that the natural mane should go unkept, shampoo and conditioning each week, works for me. Then back to the braids for my free styles. And so many to choose from. But I too have bought a few that I felt were too heavy, full in areas that are uncomfortable. So I thought thinning out is an option. Now after listening (actually reading) this conversation, I'll be able to do it myself. And not waste money taking a chance on someone doing it, possibly messing up. It all makes sense. You ladies are so creative and possess great creative imagination. I just want you to know your experience is very beneficial to me. Thanks so much. God's continued blessings to you all!
Renee, your advice is especially helpful. You know your stuff girl. I could actually picture the explanations details as you discussed it. Thanks...
