Hey guys! I cured my AU with generic Xeljanz in a short span and I was fine for few months. Later I started lowering my dosage and now my hairs are falling and I have huge patches. This is really heartbreaking to me. I'm losing confidence to face people again. Please help me. I'm currently on 20mg a day. Do you guys have experienced the same?

I’m on Xeljanz to treat my Ulcerative Colitis I also have Alopecia and this medication has grown small amount of hair on my body. I started with 20mg and now I’m on 10 mg. What was the dose that you started off with and for how long ?
Hey Raya, i started taking xeljnz few years back , i wanted to take it to grow back hair but also have ulcerative colitis, its been best thing for colitis! I didn’t have any hair growth until i went to 20 mgs a day, a dermatologist gave me cortisone shots in head to kind of kick start growth, i had all grow back but not as thick as it once was.. but i was stoked to have eyebrows! I was AU and had lost all. I dropped down to 15 mgs past months and had lost alot so went back to 20 mgs.. one dr suggested to do 20/15 mgs alternating daily and suggested even 20 mg day for a week, 15 mg a day for a week., it will fall out if i stay w only 15 a day
I started the medication in March with 20mg a day and just last month I started on 10mg I haven’t seen any full growth on my head just my lashes have grown and the eyebrows still have patches . Haven’t lost the growth I have yet . I take biotin gummies everyday . Did the Xeljanz work for your Colitis? Cus my inflammation went down a lot from this medication and I tried almost every medication for treating the Colitis.
Xeljanz has been the best treatment for UC, i have not had any flare ups since taking it
They start folks off on 10mg twice again and may increase it slowly to see if hair regrows. If you are in the group that regrows hair to be cosmetically acceptable, then they will slowly taper the dosage to 5 mg twice a day. The worry is risking your overall health with immune suppressant drug over a lifetime.
Hugs to you for this can be a real struggle. I hope you have confidence and realize that people like you and not your hair. This experience will shape your personality like few others and that alone is magnetic.
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry for what you’re going through but I heard people who took Xeljanz also took steroid injections to keep the hair from falling out. A girl on YouTube had posted what other medications she took with Xeljanz.
I have read that there is NOT a generic version of Xeljanz so I am confused here. My daughter has alopecia and I understand that Xeljanz is incredibly expensive and not available to most people due to cost alone. If you are buying your medicine online - you should research to confirm it is the real stuff.
I am so sorry you’re going through this! Xeljanz is not a cure. It only works while taking the medication. There are a lot of JAK inhibitors being researched at this time for efficacy and safety for alopecia. A few have been fast tracked by the FDA and there is hope for an FDA approved one to come out hopefully in 2022 .
Thank you for clarifying this, Jennifer. I have asked this question numerous times here and have never gotten a response. I am just wondering if anyone here has stopped taking Xeljanz altogether after suitable regrowth and has maintained that regrowth.
unfortunately, when treatment is stopped, almost all people have a relapse, which is why pfizer's ctp 543 and recticilinib will be targeted specifically for alopecia and have fewer side effects such as cholesterol and venous thrombosis, to be able to use it as a long-term treatment because it is not a cure and better efficiency,
the ctp 543 plans to be put on the market in the first quarter of 2023.
baracitinib an application for approval in 2022 he finished the last phase 3 for alopecia.
xeljanz will never be approved no studies have been done for alopecia.
and the initiators jaks are on increased surveillance on the side effects on a part of the population with diseases that have cardiovascular diseases and on people aged over 50 years.
the xeljanz is in the hot seat with the fda.
20mg doses are no longer allowed.
try to find the daily dose with which you maintain your regrowth, if you have relapses associated with another cortisone or other short-term treatment to calm the inflammation.
use cortisone medicinal anti-inflammatories. along with other supplements that can help omega 3 .
the only hope is the ctp 543 which has excellent results for poor responders of xeljanz or baracitinib
several diseases have lifelong medication and alopecia is an autoimmune disease you have to accept long-term treatment there is no miracle and I think there will never be a cure for less than one remission of the body itself. as long as the drug is tolerated and managed it must be remembered that it is a lifelong treatment, it does not bother me as long as the side effects are under control.
even if it costs years less in my life, I prefer to live young happy than old man with this disease and unhappy.
rheumatoid arthritis
severe eczema colitis
and all have lifetime treatments.
alopecia is one of them and must be treated in the long term.
it authorizes a vaccine in 8 months.
and clinical trials of a psychologically devastating disease it takes 8 to 10 years of clinical trials before being put on the market.
since 2014 they are in clinical trial it is unacceptable despite the successful trials of the 3 phase we still have to wait 1 to 3 years Again!!!
methotrexate associated with cortisone has had few clinical trials with zero efficacy but since the drug costs nothing it does not bother to prescribe it with extremely serious side effects I took it for 6 months my blood test and my health was becoming catastrophic
