I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

That's what I'm finding out , I've submitted samples to Pfizer

That's so impressive!  I truly hope my hair comes back like that.

Holy crap those results are amazing!!! Good for you man!!!!

My fiancé has experienced a full recovery as well.

I can't wait until the day we light up a bonfire and burn her old wigs!!!!

Thanks Giusep,

and congrats to you and your fiancé  as well!

your barely have any bald spots left congrats man unless your hiding the back of your head for a reason.

Hi ADML, yes, I had the steroid injections and about a month later the hair in those areas in particular have started to pigment. I was a little afraid it might mess it up, but I actually think it helped. It may help your stubborn spots. Have you started taking 4 pills yet? Your hair looks amazing, so happy for you.

I was on 4 for a while but got a fever and was very unwell. I have since dropped back down to 3 tablets. Thanks its getting there!

How many months did it take to see some regrowth? Im one of the slow responders and getting ready to call it quits. I have not seen any regrowth yet!

Hi Lori, some people are responding slower. I was one also. Are you AU? You may need to go to a higher dose, 3 or even 4 pills a day to jump start it. I think cortisone injections also help. I did not see much growth until about 6 to 7 months when I increased to 3 a day.

Thanks  I'm not AU. I  started in June and now I have been on 3 pills a day for the past month. Still nothing and losing and getting some spots. Getting discouraged but I still want to stay on it. I read everyone's posts hoping  growth will kick in soon! Question do you take the 3 pills together  at the same time?

No, you would take one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one at night. The good thing is you can take them without meals and you don't get nauseous.

Hi Starshine. Are you AU? I've been on 20mg a day for 6 weeks now and prior to that I was on 10mg a day for 8 weeks. So far I have some thing, light fuzzy hairs on the top of my head and a thicker patch in the back where I was injected. I have also felt discouraged, today was a rough day for me. How is your progress coming along? Any brows or lashes?
