I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hi Football Fan. My insurance pays half and Phizer hardship pays the remainder. Since it is split, they never questioned it. My doc called it in to my spacialty pharmacy, not theirs, and they paid, no problem. In Your case, I would call, or have your doc call Zelsource and tell them you need to take three pills a day and ask if they will cover it. I was assigned a case manager for questions or concerns.
Can anyone reccommend what times to have the xeljanz? Or how many hours between? I read that it has a half life of 3 hours not sure if that makes a difference in the gap you have them apart ? Thanks
I don't have any set times. I just take one in the morning and one at night, when I remember to. Don't worry Singh and try not to analyze too much. You finally got the drug, take it and have faith that it will work. What is your background? Are you AU?
Thank you and yes I will have do and I am now AU for the last 8 months I have had AA then AT for some years now. Am
Still looking forward to the data getting released from Dr King and others. I really hope they give us more hope

Hey guys,

I was wondering, What happened to that October clinical trial? Did they release the results yet?

What you think of this ? Are we closer to a cure?? Just seen this online today
Wow! That's exciting! Not only for us, but for those with male pattern baldness, which affects the majority of bald men.
Yeh it is I seen that this morning ! It will be a safer profile too but would be annoying to rub it all over your head all the time but still it's good :). She also mentioned she has finished her trials for the other jak inhibitor and that and xeljanz is definitely the treatment for alopecia so far !.

This site has a video of dr christiano talking abt the findings, i found it interesting.

How long do u guys think it would take before something like this would become available for use by everyday patients? I have a feeling it might not be too soon, but i rly hope it is. Right now taking xeljanz orally is probably the best and only option.
Interesting video. I think personally now within 2 years at first I thought about 4 years so by 2020 but I feel it's pushing in the right direction that now I feel hopefully stem cell treatment will be here soon as a cure! I know trials have been successful in that too. Also baricitinib will get approved early 2016 it's cheaper and safer hopefully so people can switch to that while waiting for the topical version and a cure.
That's for all this positive news!!!!
Your welcome mate hope yours is improving too :)
