I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

ICARUS, In case you missed my earlier reply. I am now reporting you to the owners of Alopecia World and you may also face legal consequences if you continue to accuse me of being a liar, "paid agent of Pfizer" and scammer. I'm an honest Jehovah's Witness Bible teacher and I don't appreciate your blatant religious prejudice and intolerant, negative comments regarding my faith in prayer, my God Jehovah and the miracles of science. Below are pictures from my last doctor's visits at renowned University of California, San Francisco,
where I have been a patient since May of this year.

OMG! I think I will stay off this site till this Childness stops.Being mean then threats of being sued and religion being brought into the mix.Enough ugliness in the world and a site were people go to for support has been turned negative. All this nonsense has upset me since I read it this morning STOP!

I agree... just let it go.

Everyone has an opinion. But it's just that - an opinion. Don't give it any merit and move on.

This is all Im going to add on the subject at this point. I just "happened" to receive this in the mail from UCSF TODAY re my care at their hospital: See picture of letter below from the University of California, San Francisco:

Xeljanzmiracle. I haven't read through it, but I'm just advising you. Don't think you should be posting your personal address here. I would remove this photo asap.
Thank you for your concern Xeljanz2015. I'm not worried about that. I just wanted people to know that I'm a real patient at UCSF, growing my hair back on Xeljanz, not some lying scammer as I was falsely accused of being. I'm not selling it for Pfizer; I don't have any ulterior motive except to help others like I have been helped. Thank you for your concern though. I also posted my phone number yesterday. If anyone wants to call me and ask me any questions, they are welcome to. I don't have anything to hide. How's your regrowth coming?
Additionally, here is my first monthly supply of Xeljanz that I FINALLY received on July 28, 2015. I was SO EXCITED I texted picture to everyone in my phone!

I just saw Doctor yesterday and I'll be doing prednisone along with Xeljanz for 3 months and hopefully it will give it a boost. Also he said to try Rogaine to see it helps filling more the front. The back looks great with only one patch.
It's been 15 years of AU, so we don't know if the remaining spots with fill in or are just dead hair follicles. I'm hoping with time all will come back!

Xeljanzmoracle, didn t accuse you of being a paid agent, stop spreading bullshit.

Nobody would pay you for such poor results. This clearly does not work as it is supposed, of course it is not your fault.

I just expressed my honest question about this bubbly personal advertisment of xeljanz by you, when OBVIOUSLY does not work in excellence on your head.

Mixing religious agendas, jehobas, jojobas and spiritual stuff in this conversation make me think that you have issues, serious issues. Nobody asked you about your beliefs and it is not the right place for this kind of conversation.

Hi Pdxtwo, I received your beautiful and encouraging message saying that you read my story, saw my pictures, and as a Black woman have been inspired by them. Many others may not realize the lifelong, DAILY STRUGGLE Black women have with their hair from birth. Our hair is extremely fragile, breaks off easily, and does not grow at the same rate as other nationalities. Added onto that is the damage our mothers/hairdressers inflict by trying to tame it with heat, hotcombs, perms, tight braids, etc. The list goes on and on. Then as adults here come the weaves that are glued on, sewed on, etc. All of that causes even more damage and that is BEFORE we start losing it to Alopecia. By the time we reach 50 years old, the majority of us are wearing wigs to hide the extensive damage and hair loss we have experienced. That wasn't the case with me, I had healthy hair that just started falling out one day. But the results were the same, psychological DEVASTATION! Hair is a BIG THING to Black women. We were told as children that we had "bad hair" because it was kinky. For those of you who want a better understanding, watch Chris Rock's movie about Black hair. I think it's called "Good Hair", not sure. It's totally hilarious, but true. We spend more money on (creamy crack) hair products, weaves, wigs, extensions and hair regrowth products than anybody! Hair is super important to us and our self-esteem. So Pdxtwo, I do understand your pain and suffering. Add me as a friend if you want to talk privately. Or call me or write me. I have made myself available to the planet thru Alopecia World. Someone asked me sarcastically this morning what makes me tick? I will tell you: I live to help others. That gives me the GREATEST JOY. That's me and that's all. I'm semi-retired from being a medical assistant (at same hospital and Dermatolgy Office I go to now coincidentally, lol!) But I worked there (and assisted with hair transplants back in the 80's). I also have 40 years of experience as a legal secretary and have been a Certified Paralegal since 1983. I went to San Francisco State University. I was going to become a lawyer but changed my mind; I decided to only work part-time so I could do volunteer work in the community: help people get off of drugs, learn to read, learn the Bible, etc. I also wanted to work part time for my family's sake and selfish reasons. I wanted to be able to take my child to the beach and park in the sunshine during the week. Plus my husband worked nights and I wanted more time with him. I voluntarily gave up hundreds of thousands of dollars, but the money was never important to me. I wanted a better QUALITY of life and a less stressful, healthier one. And except for losing all my body hair 6 years ago, that is the kind of life I have. I'm happier (more bubbly) than a lot of people because I give more, and that is what brings TRUE JOY, not money or material possessions. Someone super famous and well known said that thousands of years before me. At the risk of offending people I won't say his name. But I follow his philosophy as much as I can and it works for me and others a million percent!

Icarus in Miracle instead the xelijanz is working  and it' s working good... sure in some months all hairs in her head...please stop to post negative comments and stop to continue whit this negative attitudines...we must be friends no enemies, you have alopecia areata so you must be postitive no negative, please...thank you for undestand and change your future comments.

Congratulations on your new growth Jcortez05, you are on your way! Those tiny white hairs WILL turn dark and get longer. Welcome new Xeljanzer! How are you getting your Xeljanz? Insurance or one of Pfizer's discount programs?
