I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Wow your hair looks amazing!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!

Happy for you :-)

Beautiful!!!  So exciting.  I'm starting week 2.

Wow....I am on day 7 of Xeljanz. Amazing results so far. How much of this do you believe is from Xeljanz, as opposed to the plaquenil?

so have your eyebrows grown back too?

Looks great Kimberj :)

A big difference from your last photos.

Can I just say am happy for all you's who have had great success with Tofacitinib! It's truelly amazing seeing these results! Alopeciadestroyedmyworld is there any chance you could inbox me on each step you went through to get on this? It's because I am also from the UK mate. So far I have filled in the question air from Dr brett king so just waiting on appointment now. Thanks again !
Kimberj, u look AMAZING! I have vellus hairs over most of my head but not really the back for some reason. I would get on Xeljanz right NOW if i only had to pay for co-pay and not the expensive monthly fee. For the most part, Texas is totally not progressive at all, except for MD Anderson medical center. I am working with researchers there, but the trials have not expanded there yet. I hope the FDA approves before they get here, but if not, my researchers tell me there are about 10 facilities involved in the trials, and we are currently on facility #3 at Stanford (Columbia, Yale, Stanford). I am anxious to see where things go next!

Are all of you paying out of pocket or is this getting covered? I've heard of getting premium blue cross insurance  to get this covered but not sure if it will always be covered. How do you guys get this?

Same thing I am wondering, I will soon be needing to purchase this out of pocket and I don't know how I'm going to do it.
