I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hi summer2000 that's great news.Im also like you xeljanz has not worked for me even on 3 pills a day. In the last month my eyebrows which were at about 40 percent are now at about 75 don't know if it's because of the xeljanz cream or the plaquenil I added back in December and stopped last month. My hair has finally stopped falling out and maybe some slight growth on my head hard to tell because I have about 30 growth all over the head. I think the small percent of us not responding to xeljanz Jak 1 3 seems to need a Jak 1 2 but who can afford Ruxolitnib and my insurance will never cover it.Thats were Baricitinib cames in another Jak 1 2.I hope it gets approved soon and the cost won't be through the roof.It will probably bring down the cost of xeljanz and hopefully make it more affordable for everyone.I just don't see any of these drugs getting approved for AA in the near future and being covered by our insurances.
The whole way these drugs influence the JAKs is very interesting. I have some notes at home from my last appointment with Dr. King. We discussed the influences and how they can partially or fully influence the cell activity. It's not an all or nothing. I am having some favorable results on Ruxolitinib but he wants to see more. He thinks it covers a lot of the scenarios but maybe not all of them or not the strongest contributor to my AU. I will see what I can dig up.
Thanks for the info just trying everything out there till I hit on the right combo.Because I do have sporadic hair everywhere except under my arms and never lost eyelashes nose hairs or the soft fine hair on your face weird.

Nicolas, How is your hair regrowth on Xeljanz coming?

I'm sorry to not help you, i'm using it from 10 days i 'm having a big regrowth but sure it's for vitamin d 10000 uil day no for xelijnaz, it's to less time to say it's for xelijnaz, instead i'm using vitamin d from 40 days so almost sure the regrowth is for it...best regards.

Hi summer 2000 great to see you having results ! Can I just ask why dr King thinks
1) why he chose predisolone for you to use along side it ? As a lot of dr in the uk do not like to use predisolone as it dampens down the whole immune system ?
2) what dose of predisolone are you on a day?
3) are you planning on staying on the

Thank you

Singh.
Good morning Singh! I'm sending you a pm.
