I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hello everyone,

This is a question for anyone who took advantage of the Xeljanz co-pay card...I was just told by a Xelsource representative that the co-pay card will not work if my insurance does not cover the Rx. Has anyone had a hard time or was not able to use the co-pay card? Thank you in advance for your response!

Untrue .. You can pay medication in full with copay card I've done it

I just got this same response.

That's what I thought...Thanks!
Just an update .. Started month 6 last week this is my growth so far

Wow! So awesome...how many milligrams are you taking per day? Did you apply for the hardship program for assistance with paying for you medication?
I take 2 pills a day but sometimes only take 1 ... I started in November so that's why I just started bottle 6 because I don't always take 2. I never put it through my insurance I always said I didn't have insurance and just used my copay card but since he copay card only covers up to 12,000 in 1 year I finally tried through insurance and they actually cover it now .. I did just recently apply for the hardship program though .

I am surprised insurance covered Xeljanz. They rejected my claim but Doctor is going to appeal.

Yea my dr was surprised also but before we went to insurance we sort of built up a case ..I saw a dermatologist who suggested meds I was on the meds with great results I had kenalog injections at other times .. But he was prepared to appeal if needed
By the way I just read your bio and I lost mine 4 months after having my son last year .. And was also going through some very very stressful times also
That looks fantastic JCoetez are the lashes new also? Great results
I hardly lost any lashes just a couple
