I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

It's called Jakafi it is a chemotherapy drug used for mylofibrosis which is a form of Cancer of the Bone Marrow and like all Cancer drugs it is super expensive.
11 thousand dollars for one month supply
Thank you for that article.
Everybody is different the clinical trial you posted was 3 months at 10 milligrams a day . In my case most of my regrowth did not start until 5 months then progressively kept growing I am in my 7th month now and hair is continueing to grow . So in my case if I was enrolled in a 3 month trial it would have been a waste of time. So that leaves me to say you can't go by the results of any clinical trial everyboby responds differently thanks for the link
Hey james2me, been on xeljanz 3 1/2 months, nothing yet. Anyone have suggestions on time frame? Example: if I dont see any results by 5,8 months stop taking xeljanz..?
At 3 and a half months I was starting to see facial Hair come back and that was about it at 5 months I started seeing hair on Arms and legs. I hope this helps but also keep in mind everybody seems to respond different.
Thanks james2me, get down thinking Ill be the non responder.

Any news of Alopecia distruyed ml? Is him fine?

I've been on xeljanz for about a year now, I was taking 2 pills daily, my dose has now been raised to 3 pills a day, for those on 3 pills a day how many hours apart are you taking them? Or do you take them all at once? Just wondering if there's a better method or something...thanks
I take 2 in the morning and 1 in the evening.
Awesome thank you, I was taking 1 in the morning, 1 at noon then 1 in the evening, never really got proper instructions lol thanks for the info!
