I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hey James how is your growth going pal ?
I am in my 8th month now eyebrows and lashes are in but there not as full as originally scalp is Takeing its time it seems to grow in patchy im hopeing the other areas fill in bi get frustrated. And have my daughter cut it really short with her clippers im trying to find out if Takeing two 11 mg time release tablets a day would be safe or if I should give it more time on the one a day thanks for asking Singh I hope all is well with you
That's very encouraging news James, positive stuff mate. Am in a similar boat, scalp is taking it's time ! Although I have not been consistent or been at cosistent 2 pills a days and also haven't tried 3 or 4 pills of xeljanz a day. But my cholesterol has been a side effect. Thanks for asking James will keep each other posted.

For those of you who are on xeljanz and have added kenalog injections, did you see more regrowth? How long before you saw improvement? Do you continue to get more injections every few weeks? Thanks for any info you can share.

I've been wondering that as well. I've only been on Xeljanz for 3 weeks
Hello everyone. I was wondering about the increased cholesterol many are experiencing while taking xeljanz. I understand Statins are prescribed but one of the side effects of statins is hair loss. For those taking statins while on Xeljanz have you noticed any loss of hair....progress. I would also be interested in what brand you are using and dose. I thank all of you for sharing your experience for the benefit of others.

Yes it increase it ...you must not take statins but change your diet and make sports.

I'm on statin to lower cholesterol and have no hair loss
