I had eczema when I was very young, up until about starting primary school. Then I hardly had it growing up until 10 years ago, moved iner-state to a colder climate and it flared up really bad. The last 12 months or so I have been getting it on my face just under my left eye. I noticed my first patch at the begining of this year. I have tried so many lotions and potions, have found nothing that really works, except for cortosoine creams and I really dont like to use them too much.
I get on my hands and fingers little blister like things and they get REALLY itchy, usually when in bed of a night, my hands look horrible so red and dry!
Does anyone else have this???

My daughter had eczema the first two years of her life. She had it real bad on her bottom and on the back of her knees and elbows where the arm folds. She hasnt had it flare up since she was about 2. She is now almost 7.

I have had eczema my entire life as well. What I really hate are the scars left behind. I have huge dark scars on my face. I break out all over, but as of late I have these spots on my leg & face that will not go away. My sister has lupus & I have some of this symptoms listed below. I will have to definitley see a Dr.

I have been using some fru-fru salts from the whole foods market and a little goes a long way (unless you want to take a bath in it). I mix it up in small batches and still have some left of the 32 oz jar I bought a year ago. I have never tried epsom salt. You can get sea salt at the market for a reasonable price. It is available in large boxes. Good luck. I hope it works for you.

Oh my goodness! I have five of those symptoms! My doctor said that I need to have some blood work done because I have unexplained pain in my left knee. He said that lupus RA was a possibility.
I've also been having problems with my steriod cream for my eczema (triamcinolone 1%) It seems to be making my itching worse! Whenever I put it on I get a huge flare-up and start itching like crazy. I haven't been putting it on lately. My eczema is pretty bad still. I am about to lose my mind with this itch!! My husband is always getting after me because I just can't stop! I like the idea about using sea salt as a treatment. My skin does always feel better after a swim in the ocean. I live in Arizona, so I will probably have to buy those fru fru bath sea salts. What about epsom salt? Has anyone tried that?

Hi Rachel,
I have a friend that has Lupus and she does get a rash on her face. Would this be the same as what your derm is talking about? My friend also suffers with joint, muscle aches and fatigue when hers flares up. She hasn't had any hair loss.
Lupus is an auto-immune disorder and there are many symptoms. Found the following on a web site for Lupus.

Here are some of the more common symptoms. Rarely do two people have exactly the same symptoms, and these can vary from just one to many.

joint and/or muscle aches and pains
butterfly shaped rash on the cheeks and/or other rashes
fatigue and weakness
recurring flu-like symptoms
headaches, migraines
oral and/or nasal ulcers
hair loss
depression
seizures, mental and other cerebral problems
chest and/or abdominal pain
poor blood circulation
blood disorders
kidney problems

Hope it helps
Cheryl

Has anyone with alopecia and eczema ever heard of 'skin lupus'? My derm is testing me for that....

I think I've had eczema on my leg for about 2 or 3 years now but I'm not totally sure. My doctor isn't right in the head and I'd hate to get his opinion on something that isn't life threatening (long story but I always ask for a specialist when I'm done talking to him). It all started after I had my hernia fixed and was originally on both shins and elbows. For the past year and a half it's only been the one shin but it's itchy like mad and the skin is kinda bumpy, dry and raised now from scaring, sound familiar at all or am I at sea here??

I am AU and have eczema. I have had Alopecia since I was about 11 but I have been AU for only the past 6 years or so (I am 57). My eczema flares up badly during pollen/hay fever season. Used to be mostly my hands legs and arms, but the past few years I have developed severe rashes also on my neck. My neck becomes so itchy and sensitive that even lightweight clothes can aggravate it. Wigs are sooooooooo annoying. I have tried all kinds of medicine - prescription, natural etc., but the only thing that really helps is a good swim in the ocean. Salt water burns like crazy, but clears things up. Unfortunately I live in New England and not really near the ocean. I have bought natural sea salt and mixed with water to dab on the itch. It is messy but kinda works. I hope to retire to Florida one day where I can jump in the ocean almost every day.
