Only see one photo... and your hair does look quite healthy. Now, that said... I know what it is like to slowly lose hair - and the uncertainty and frustration that comes with that. Not to mention, the callus manner in which the dermatologist acted - only adds to that frustration. My derm in NO way "asked" me what medicine I wanted. When he did the two punch biopsies, and confirmed FFA/LPP - he immediately explained the prognosis, and his treatment tiers. He is on CARF's website of preferred providers. I hope that there is someone on that site that is close enough to you so you can get the professional care you deserve. If you have other photos, send them so we can see a little clearer.
It's hard to say without a comparison to what your hair looked like before you started losing. And I would be happy to have your hairline. Having said that, when I finally got diagnosed in 2015, I looked at pictures of me all the way back to 2006, and now I know I was losing hair since 2007 for sure. I just never really gave it much attention and thought I needed to eat better or something. So if you notice it, it's happening. You need to find another doctor.
Without seeing a pic of the previous hairline, it is hard to tell. With my FFA, I have gouges in the hairline and all the baby hair is gone all around from top of forehead to my ears. These areas are roundish and smooth. From the injections 4 years ago I have a distinct depression in my forehead. This loss happened in a week after I noticed the small circles and went to the derm. The injections really took off a lot of hair. The area where hair was lost is fairer, smoother and plastic looking. It is a noticeable band of lighter skin which is hard to cover with face makeup. My new hairline has no baby hair and looks very unnatural. You still have some baby hair at the sides by the temple.
You probably have the FFA but it is taking a different form than mine. I could only woner what would have been the result today if I did not do the injections.
momto1, it's hard to tell by your pictures if you are in the early stages of ffa. The best way I can describe my ffa hairline is moth-eaten. My ffa started with losing the baby hair around my face, and my hairline became jagged with a white line around my face where the hair used to be. You definitely should seek out another doctor. My dermatologist of more than 15 years told me that it's normal for our hair to thin with age, and asked me all kinds of questions about my relatives' hairlines.. He tried to send me home without taking a look at my hairline. I had to get between him and the door and force him take a look at the bald, shiny patches on my head. I saw 2 more doctors before I finally had a diagnosis. I sincerely hope you don't have ffa, but it may take some diligence on your part to find a doctor willing to do a biopsy so you can find out for sure. Good luck to you.
