Hi I'm quite new on the site I would love to link with anyone in the UK in the west midlands area! That would really make my day. Never met another AA.

Nah....I don't date.

Thank you, Rose, very kind of you! And I agree, Cadane, it's fun to tell war stories - and boy, do I got 'em.

Thanks, Mike! I tend to gravitate towards men who are less hairy anyway, because I can't stand the hairballs that accumulate in the bathroom! (I hope that makes everyone smile.) There is no question that women are more understanding than men when it comes to baldness. Thank goodness I am not the type to mope for long - I have so much to enjoy and look forward to that I can't let a little thing like dating get in the way of happiness.

Mike - As you can see, there are many more women on this website than men. Women are notorious for forming supportive organizations; we love to "save the whales" and everything else that appears to be suffering. Keep up the posting; ignore the lapses. Persistent must prevail!

Carbon dating? You are funny Norm. Is that the male equivalent to women looking for diamonds?

In my case, it's been so long I'm thinking of trying Carbon Dating instead..... although one can meet creatures from the cretin-atious at any time... ;)

Ha! No success here...so I often take breaks and focus on other things (and lick my wounds). When I feel my energy go back up, I'll throw myself into the fray again.

Hello Mike - This is a common problem for online groups, even the supportive ones. Years ago, while belonging to a Yahoo national alopecia group, few were active (at that time a total of 200 members), Later becoming involved with a local support group for widows and widowers, I've been told that they don't feel comfortable communicating with strangers, especially without a face attached to the profile.

Not all of us will be young and attractive (even with hair pieces and caps) so it's even more intimidating to those who may find themselves in the less "socially preferred" set.

For the inexperienced, this type of situation as you have mentioned (i.e, when people are not responding) only leaves one with more questions...such as what's wrong with what I said or perhaps how I look (if there's a photo)? Maybe for singles, it's even more challenging.

It always helps not to take ourselves too seriously which is why I was pleased to see your response to the situation. I certainly smiled at the comment about "great success in the dating world"; thank you.

Since laughter is so important in our lives, I often recall the Woody Allen quote, "I am thankful for laughter except when milk comes out of my nose." ((Hugs)) Susan from the Dairy State.
