I have found that I can't really put my hair in a complete updo. The back of the wig just doesn't look natural...although it is the most natural of all the wigs I have worn, it just isn't the same. However, it probably depends on how you have it cut but I don't think having your own hair will help much...

I posted this question elsewhere but should have done it here :)

I recently shaved my head for a freedom wig. She left some strands of hair on the sides and in the back, which I don't really like. I want to shave them off, but am wondering this: if I put my hair up in an updo, will some stubble show at the nape of the neck? Has anyone else ran into this problem?

Thanks!
Deb

Hi Julia our duaghter wears hers in the sea and it is fine just wash afterwards. As far as protecting it from the sun someone suggested she use purple shampoo to stop it getting that golden tinge hair pieces tend to get. I haven't checked this with Rose Marie yet but I know after awhile in the sun Nicoles starts to fade out a reddy colour perhaps this may help ( Rose any idea??)

Now I've got my Freedom hair the way I want it! I love it. Can anyone tell me a good sunscreen product to protect it from the sun when I go on holiday next week, please? One I can get in Canada!

Also, does sea water hurt it at all? Any helpful hints would be most welcome!

I find that I can have quite a bit of hair growing before it affects the suction - I have a lot of regrowth right now that I have been letting grow out a bit to see if maybe it might be growing back all over. Alas, no such luck, it's still decidedly patchy, so it's back to shaving for me. At one point, my hair was almost an inch long and I was still wearing my freedom wig. It wasn't as secure as with no hair, but it was still comfortable and it didn't feel like it was going to come off at all.

Does the wig not suction well later in the day then?

what do you mean?? just like a man's facial hair it grows back by early evening.. it's not long by any means but if there is hair it messes with the fit... But like i said I am just speaking for myself. you'll have to see what works for you and how the fit feels for you and depends on how much hair there is left. Most if mine is left on the top of my head so maybe that;s why

Speaking only for myself and I have very little hair left.. I have to shave daily to insure the best fit. I can even feel when the hair grows out like a 5oclock shadow it does not feel the same , really shaving after you've been doing it a while wont take of much of your time.
