- I'm a realtor in South Florida and have battled AA since 1991 and then developed AU in 2000. I'm married 28 years and have 3 great kids; 2 have AA. We do pretty well for ourselves. Life would be a lot better if I could feel comfortable with a wig at the beach/pool! I don't think I'm asking for too much. I'd love talk to local people with AA.

My first bout with AA was in my 20's with AU following at age of 35. A great paternal aunt was said to have had sporadic AA in adulthood. 2 of my 3 Children have AA since childhood but it's been managed. My 3rd child has never had AA. What I can say is that my children with AA have my support, don't feel alone and know that their father and I always understand and normalize it as much as possible. I joined Alopecia World several months ago and am THRILLED to hear all the optimism from fellow Alopecians! I'd really love to talk/meet with more fellow Alopecians from Florida. Is anyone out there? I'd love to hear about choices in hair replacement, going swimming, dealing with the heat etc....
