Hairspray (Love it! Hate it!)

Hope everyone is doing well! Another question to my alopecia friends: ...well some background, blah, blah, blah...and then my question...

I have come to learn that hairspray and wigs don't really mix. I have a gorgoes human hair wig that looks great after washed for only a few days because I feel the need to load it to the max with hairspray. I don't know if I find myself doing this out of habit from when I used to style my own hair or from fear that it will lose its' shape and… Continue

Human Hair Wig - It's a love-hate relationship

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well...coping well with this most incovenient and expensive condition. I haven't been on here in a while. I am hoping to get some new tips and tricks :) I am still new to this and am grateful that everytime I blog on here I obtain a whole bunch of useful advice!

Help picking the right wig - Blonde or brunette?

I'm new to wearing wigs. Suffering from hypothyroidism and losing hair by the handfuls :( I had very long, thick hair. I was depressed for a long time, but, am now just trying to move on and deal with the fact that I have to wear a wig.

So depressed today

So I thought I found the perfect wig. I finally started to look like me again and I was so happy for the few days I wore it. Well, after about three days of wearing it, it started falling apart. The ends are so dry and I can't even get the wig comb through it. It's synthetic and it cost almost $400. I can't afford to keep buying wigs. I tried washing as the directions said. It's drying on the wig stand. Just looking at makes me want to cry. It's probably going to look even worse now that I've… Continue

Virtuesse Hair System - Has anyone done this or know someone who has??

I've recently been suffering from excessive hair loss due to thyroid inefficiencies. I started out with extensions to help make my hair look thicker. They worked great until most of the hair on my crown and temples fell out :( Now I don't think I have any other options but to invest in some wigs. During this whole process I had been going to a hair restoration clinic where I recieved laser treatments. The clinic also provides Virtuesse hair systems. They are real hair with a "second skin" on… Continue
