I have wigs! My amazing friend and I went wig shopping yesterday and, since they were so cheap for stuff that felt not half bad (they're both made from Kanekalon and are oh, so so shiny), I got two. One sleek asymmetric crop/bob and one shoulder length layered style with a fringe. They both need to be trimmed, which I'm having done on Friday by a salon I found through Trevor Sorbie's My New Hair project. The fringe on the longer one reaches somewhere near my nose when I wear it right and really, the Cousin It look isn't one I'm going for as an alternative to my bald Uncle Fester thing.
I know I said I wasn't going to wear them regularly and that I'm quite happy being bald, and I still am. But seeing myself with hair is amazing and I may well wear them more often. It's nice to have the option, y'know? I really want a blonde one too, but I got these two from an afro-caribbean beauty shop and they had precisely three blonde wigs, all of which looked shocking on me. Maybe my NHS wig will be a blonde...
I'm so relieved I'll be able to blend in when I go home for Christmas. I'll see all my family in eleven days and be able to go out for meals and drinks and shopping with them and not feel uncomfortable or that we're standing out. I can't wait!
Also, thank you for the lovely comments when I posted these pics earlier. They're not the best I could have taken but I hope to get some better ones after they've been styled and trimmed. It's all quite exciting.
