I plan on going swimming without my wig while on holiday in Phuket. Anna, I've very impressed by people like you who are able to go without their wig in public all day...I think you're amazing.

Is that anyone in the Philadelphia/NJ region who would want to get together and maybe do our own version of Bald Girls Do Lunch or some other activity? I know we are here and many of us would like to meet like-minded heads. Anyone with ideas or who wants to help coordinate? Even if not everyone choses to go bald in public, it would be great to get together.

Hello all,
I am working with a journalist to publish an article for alopecia awareness month in our local newspaper up here in Winnipeg and hopefully out East in Toronto as well. I am creating an informed article about our disease, telling my story, explaining current research and discoveries, as well as how our medical system could better help out (with an allowance every few years for a new hairpiece if wanted, making the purchase a "medical purchase" therefore eliminating our taxes) I was also going to address how the general public can contribute to our fight by donating money for research through NAAF or CANAAF, enlightening the public on hair extensions and the market increase they are causing for wig manufacturers, or asking the public to donate hair to the" locks of love" charity or to a reputable wig dealer such as Freedom Hair. It is an expose for myself but totally worth it to make people aware. I always think... "Now that you are exposed to something, you cannot plead ignorance instead you can help." I hope the message gets out there!
Looking at all the above comments...You are all AWESOME...awareness is getting out there!!!

I go to youth services at a church in town on the last Saturday of every month. I know the youth leaders and I'm thinking about asking them if I could share my story. : )
