I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Football fan, I ended up not increasing my dose, but when we were considering doing 3 pills a day Dr King told me to take 2 pills together in the morning and 1 at night.
If this higher dose doesn't work for you tell your doctor to try Spironolactone in a low dose increasing weekly until you get to 100mg 2x day. That made all the difference for me. its usually prescribed for alopecia androgenetic. I'm so happy it worked for me. I started taking it in March and now my head is full!
It sounds like your hair is starting to come in everywhere now Football fan. I didn't notice any results until around 3 months after I started taking 4 pills a day. There were so many times I was close to quitting because I didn't think I was going to get anywhere but things finally improved. I'm sure if you keep at it you will see results. I take 2 pills in the morning and 2 at night. So far my blood work has been fine and I have to check it every 3 months. Keep the faith, I think like many people have say, everyone responds differently at a different rate.
Hi Football Fan, thanks for being concerned about me. My phone was broken and I finally got a new one. My hair regrowth is continuing. I received my first eyebrow trim/wax this monthin 6 years! Also, my hair is long enough to braid so I was able to braid in hair extensions. I will post a picture soon. Heard about terrorist attacks at airport in Turkey. I'm sure that will make Xeljanz seekers leery about going over there to purchase. 36 dead, so sad. Puts our hair loss in perspective. Even though these terrible world conditions were foretold in the Bible for our time, the senseless violence is still deplorable. Take care all and try to stay safe. Valeri
Hi Xelljanz miracle great to hear you're doing well. I was wondering if you're dose is still 3 pills a day. ?

Maybe she got a job. LOL not likely.

I'm not sure what it is to be honest I think it's anesthesia but it could also be stress or maybe even onset of lupus .. I can't be diagnosed yet bc all tests come back negative except for elevated ANA and just recently 1 other test was borderline positive but I think u need 4 symptoms to get diagnosed
My insurance CVS/Caremark denied my Rx for Xeljanz and they will not accept the co-pay card since my insurance won't cover it. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get my Rx filled?
Talia look for a different pharmacy that takes it or pay for it and get reimbursement from Pfizer.
I attached a picture of a pharmacy I used before that takes the copay card and they'll ship it to you.

Thanks! Did u go through your insurance?
You're welcome. When I used this pharmacy I didn't go through insurance, only the copay card. Then my insurance started paying and their pharmacy wouldn't take the copay card, so I paid myself and requested reimbursement from Pfizer and they mailed me a check.
Got it! I am going to try another local compound pharmacy and have them run it without insurance. I'd rather give a local Mom & Pop pharmacy my business anyway.
Try Walmart specialty .. I used only my copay card with them no problems
