I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Thanks Jcortez. Your hair looks great by the way! Since being on Xeljanz my Cholesterol has increased by 60 points.....was 200 now 260. After 3 months I see some progress (tiny new growth on my eyebrows and face) so I know in time it will work for me. I just hate the thought of another drug. PS for those of you that say eat better and excercise...I run 3 miles every other day and eat well, though not perfect...it is beyond diet and excercise. Jcortez what brand and dose for you? I will ask for that as in my research I realize not all statins work the same. Thank you.
Crestor suppose to take one everyday but I take one like twice a week
I'm very happy to report that after 2 years I have finally gotten a haircut and have had full regrowth it has taken 11 months to get this point but after such hardship and being completely bald to having my life back there is no comparison. Probably one of the greatest gifts that I have ever been given I thank the work scientists are doing to eliminate this disease and now I now that miracles can come
True through science and a little bit of hope. This blog has given me great inspiration and has gotten me through tough times finally I'm at the end of the tunnel and I would like to say that hope is real it does work and it will change your life like it has for me.
Wow! Amazing max ! Are you taking Xejanz or has it come back without xeljanz ? Made up for you man ! Looking cool as
Thank you no xeljanz was the only thing to

Congratulations Max this is a great story. Looks great. How long were you Takeing Xelljanz and what was your dosage?thanks for shareing YOURE story
I have been taking and continue to take the regular dose of two pills and day and I don't plan on reducing on that amount anytime soon or ever. This is my 11 month on xeljanz.
Hey Max, so happy for you, thanks for sharing your strength and hope. Have you been taking 5mg 2 x a day? At what month did you see growth activity? Im at 4 months w not one stub...start thinking if I should even continue taking xeljanz.. Im at 15 mg a day (10 and 5)
Rascalx, do u have regrowth anywhere else? Are u AU? If so for how long? Don't give up. Some people on here had no regrowth for 7 months or more.
Lost all in in january, AU. Whenever i have a hair, it just falls out in a day or two.Im gonna stick w xeljanz for now, Im at disney w family and depressing to see pics of myself in photos.
But! I was able to be there and enjoy time w wife and kids ... just at end of day when looking at photos gets me down when everyone is asleep
Awww...are u at Disney world or Disneyland? Don't trip, lots of guys look good bald. I received more compliments of being told I was beautiful when I threw my wigs away and came "out" after 6 years. I thought people would think I looked like a monster. I had no idea they would find me sexy and exotic looking. Even without eyelashes or eyebrows.
