I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

It usually takes about 15 years for a drug to come to the market because they have to do long trails such as trails such as 1,2 and 3. And if all is well then it will get launched however each trials are very expensive and is expensive to launch the drug.

The good news is the BIG pharmaceutical companies have taken interest in the jak inhabitors for Alopecia and have now launched there own investigations and trials. Why this is different is because these Big industries have got Money and hence can make the trials a lot quicker to launch and they have the Money to launch it quicker which I would expect 4-5 years rather 15 years.

Also with xeljanz is already approved so that could be approved within 3 years I think.

Also just to let everyone know xeljanz patent runs out by 2019/20 which means it becomes generic which means it will become very cheap. And hopefully where all looking at good viable treatment for our Alopecia in the coming years I hope.

As of a cure we could be looking at a good 10-12 or more years. Reason being I think will be down to profit unfortuantly.. But atleast a good safe treatment is better than nothing. It's like diabetics there is no cure but controlled with treatment.

Hope everyone has a great day

Kind regards

Singh.
Wow thank you so much for details. Its real good and there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. May I ask how did you obtain such information? Is it publicly listed somewhere? Any references? Also when you said big pharmaceutical companies should launch tests means they can not rely on the clinical trials that already exist? Also once the patent expires I am guessing why wouldnt the insurance companies support it? And what would prevent doctors from prescribing it is it fda approval? Tohank you
I obtained innformstion on the patent from my Dr who works along side Dr Angelino. Yes they can rely on current. Trials if there are any going on at the moment. And am guessing once the patent runs out it would be cheap enough to buy yourself or a dr probably would give a prescription for it. The prevention will depend on the Individual circumstances.

Kind regards
P.s sorry I should add when the patent does run out am sure you will still need a prescription for it and be monitored while on xeljanz or any Jak Inhabitor. I strongly would not reccomend to take this without any Dr supervision.

Kind regards
Thank you so much!
That's great information singh thank you :)
Your welcome Lindzzej

Hi Singh

Just to clarify after checking the patent agreement online. The patent expires on the 20th of December 2020. This means we have 4 years before this product becomes affordable to the vast majority..

I live in Chicago and I am looking for doctor dermtaologist or ruehmatoligist who is OK with signing of the application for xeljanz..does anyone know someone in Chicago area or midwest (i am willing to fly or drive) that is OK with that? Thank you.
There is Dr Virginia Fiedler in Wilmette which is in the Chicago area that is supposed to be very good. I went to Dr Maria Hordinsky at the University of Minnesota. She is a guru on dermatology in the Midwest.
Thank you so much. Much appreciated! Do you think they are OK with prescribing xeljanz? Thanks again.
Hordinsky for sure . don't know on Fiedler but I would guess yes.
