I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Beautiful. And so glad to see such a successful recovery. My front top bit is the last bit to fill in with fuzz. Must be a common pattern. You look great! Gives all us newbies hope!

That’s interesting, it does seem to be a stubborn area for a lot of us. Thank you!

you dont need a wig!

Thank u <3 soon... I need to build up some confidence first!

I was just perscribed xeljanz xr 11mg how does this work and or differ from.the normal xeljanz? Should I see the same results? I am still waiting back from CVS and Aetna to see if I'll be approved..... (I won't but it'll be a great Christmas gift )

Inot sure, could that be the extended release version. I read the normal xeljans is active for 3 hours after digestion. If it is the extended release version I think it is better.....if anyone can correct me please do.

Hello everyone, out of curiosity, for those with success, how many pills are you on a day? And if you’re on 2-3 do you take them all at once or split them throughout the day? I’ve been on 3 pills a day but can’t seem to get full regrowth, I grew back about 40% but I’m stuck at that point, I had 100% hairloss on my scalp and have been on xeljanz for a little over a year now. Any advice helps :)

Lots of people had success with 4 pills a day.

Some doctors says it is better to take them early cause immune system is stronger early in the morning.

If u take 2 for example u take one in the morning and one around 6 or 7pm

Consider that Half life is 3 hours...

exactly the same for me :-) 2 pills didnt do much for 3 months and 4 pills started working within a month.

I do 2 with breakfast, 2 with dinner

Are you covered with insurance or xelsource?

Yes, I receive my xeljanz from xelsource
