I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Absolutely stunning results...your patience is being rewarded. Looking forward to hearing about the Turkey/xeljanz/analysis report. Getting access to this medication is critical...and the price difference is worthwhile to explore.

It's been a long time for me (over a year) but at least this will give  hope to others who are seeing little if any growth in a short time period.

Congrats! It looks great. I'm very happy for you . Did you get vellus hair in the beginning of your growth? Did it eventually change to normal hair or fall out first then regrow normal ?

It all started as tiny barely noticeable vellus hairs which eventually grew longer and after 7 months started to slowly transition into semi terminal weak but darker hairs and finally to thick terminal hairs.

For anyone who is having vellus hair growth on Xeljanz , its a great sign!

How is your beard doing 100%?

I have about 70% of my beard

Must be an amazing feeling having your beard back mate :)
Quick update. We had our 8 week follow up with dr King today. Eyebrows are at 90 percent...her entire head is in full regrowth mode and the doctor expects full covery by thanksgiving. No real news on the clinical trials expect all the data is with the right people. He did say Canada xejanz is around 2k and Mexico around 1k. He has patients using both...he didn't have much to say about Turkey.

My daughter was on methotrexate for 7 to 9 months before...so we had a quicker response. I'm so thankful for all of you and I know there will be a day where this disease is a distant memory. Keep the faith...prayers for everyone.
Great news sounds like the methotrexate really helped would have been a cheaper way to go.Start with methotrexate for 6 months than switch to Xeljanz!Tijuana is super easy to get to lots of huge pharmacies right over the border need to fly into San Diego.
