I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

Hi Am, I am on Beacon meds at the moment but have tried a number of different Bangladesh generics. Beacon is the easiest to buy remotely though. Currently on 16mgs a day, will drop to 10 I. The next few months. At around 4 months into my journey I bumped up from 10 to 20 as the results weren’t happening. Since then I have been on between 20 and 10 depending on circumstances- though mostly 20. My goal is 10 (or 11 actually as I take the 11mg long release version that beacon sell.). No massive issues- though weight is much harder to maintain at the moment after being effortless throughout my adult life (could be age as I am in mid 30’s) and I got acne for the first 6 months or so.

have you had any regrowth at 20mg?

I have full regrowth. It took about 4/5 months to get started and I needed the 20mg dose plus a steroid pulse but once I started growing I got full growth about 3/4 months later. My hair now is thicker than pre-alopecia and curly, whereas before it was straight. The fullness could be from taking better care of it and not bleaching or dying it like I did before I got alopecia.

the trails have been very promising...the question is once they all grow back...can you go on a low dose to maintain without compromising your cancer fighting mechanisms

I plan on staying on it for awhile.  To me it is worth the risk.  I know that there are a lot of studies out there about being on it long term.  I personally believe them but I also think that my autoimmune system is out of whack and like many others we could just be more naturally inclined to get certain diseases.  All sorts of medications can have major side effects and I see Xeljanz as just another medicine.  I try to have a positive outlook on it but I understand where you are coming for.  Like I said earlier I actually feel better on the medication.  I’m sure it’s not healthy for my immune system to just randomly attack things :). I think the best thing to do is to weigh your options, look up studies and research, and make a decision.  I am hopeful that something more sustaining will come in the next 5 years that doesn’t have as many side effects.

How long have you been taking xeljanz brock?

Since dec 1st.  There are people on this site that have taken for 5+ years

Hey all. Looking for some help from anyone who has sent money to Beacon through TransferWise. I'm stuck on two parts of the transfer process:

1) When entering the amount to send, what currency do you enter for the "recipient gets" section? This is confusing me because Beacon is in Bangladesh and their bank is in Hong Kong. Screenshot_20190918-192101_TransferWise.jpg

2) When choosing who to send the money to, do I select "Someone Else"? The "Business/Charity" option is grayed out for me. Screenshot_20190918-192123_TransferWise.jpg

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Hi Ahmed . You can either go to your bank if you are in doubt and let them do it for you . If you choose to do it online yourself then 1) usd currency 2) it’s simeone else and you enter their details provided manually

Hey Meedo. Thank you. The first time I purchased I sent the transfer from my bank with no issues. The second time, Beacon's bank wasn't accepting the wire and my bank refunded it to my account. They are now refusing to send it again so I need to find another way.

I read others have used TransferWise on here so I figured I'd try it as well. I'll either end up doing it through that or maybe try at another bank. Thanks again for you reply! Appreciate it!

Yeh send in USD, if you do it with your bank save the details on recipients list and you can transfer money each time easier then for the next time. Not sure about your bank but my bank charges me a fee each transaction.

Kind regards.

Ahmed- I did USD - it’s easier And Hong Kong banks seem to prefer it.
