Hi Everyone: I remember there is a women on here who connected Botox to FFA. I was given the article, Frontal Alopecia after Repeated Botulinum
Toxin Type A Injections for Forehead Wrinkles:
An Underestimated Entity?
Antonino Di Pietro a Bianca Maria Piraccini.

This is a very small study but seems to link at least a type of FFA with Botox.

I have gotten botox a few times in the past however, I have the other indications of FFA such as scale, redness etc so I think I have the full blown type as opposed to one brought on by botox.

That being said, I didnt get any botox for fear it would make my hair loss worse.

Im trying a new derm, maybe she will have other ideas!

Best to everyone!

Thank you for sharing.  I remember that post. I think the woman may have gotten fillers.  I gave never gotten fillers but I did have a deep chemical peel about 20 years ago. It must be a chemical ingredient.  After reading these posts, I am not getting any Botox or fillers. Thanks for the article. I will show it to my dermatologist.

I’ve heard of Botox being used to treat excess sweating associated with FFA, I don’t think the majority of alopecia specialists see an association.

I've gotten botox maybe about 5-7 times over the past 15 years and maybe it is what accelerated the FFA, maybe it wasn't- though saying that, my mother has FFA and she never got botox and her hair is now gone all the way to the back of her head-  so that is what I have to look forward to, yay for me.

Even though it may or may not it accelerate it, I've been looking at my droopy eyes and brows lately and have been thinking about getting botox again- I really only do it every couple of years and when I start hearing 'you look tired' 'what are you mad about' I know it is time to get it done again as I am hearing it quite a lot lately!  Bad enough having a bad hair day every single day along with looking like blehhhhhh! ;-D

The Donovan hair clinic in Canada has an article about Botox for excess swearing in FFA.  Just google Donovan excess sweating FFA and you’ll find it quickly

Sorry Botox for excess sweating in FFA Donovan hair clinic

Totally!  I have the you look angry face and am slathering on the lotion etc but well, hey, I guess aging is part of like!  ha ha!

Notice that this study is about FIVE women. Thats an extremely small number. It also seems to be We're also unaware of other confounding factors such as their sunscreen use, family history of FFA etc. I don't find that study convincing . It's also an observational study, meaning they combed through the data from private and public clinics.

I think it's a case of ' publish or perish' , a known standard in university settings.

Yes, the study size is extremely small, however, I though it would be good to avoid botox on top of everything else like spf, titanium dioxide etc, etc.

I am also thinking at the moment to try some plastic operations with botox but I can't decide because I want everything to be as safe as possible and without negative effects.
What scares me is that I have heard many negative cases but I understand that I do not have to judge after that.
I'm thinking of using https://www.cosmeticsurgeryforyou.com/botox-lynnwood-kirkland-belle... because a friend had some plastic surgery there and a year passed and no negative effects appeared. I hope everything goes well for me too.

Hello everyone, I suppose when I got a new phone I quit getting email notices from this group, it’s good to be back.

I am the one who had fillers -Juviderm  - and the autoimmune attacked the fillers on and off for months, until the fillers were gone.  This is the same time I started noticing little bumps along my hairline.

The first time I had the flare up on filler was when I was visiting my dad whose health was declining rapidly.  It was very distressing seeing his condition.    They say stress brings on auto immune responses.   I don’t know if the fillers caused it or if the fillers were an easy target for the autoimmune to present itself.  All I know, they were related.

I take plaquinil on a daily basis, not sure if it helps but not hurting.  I also get Botox about every 5-6 months between my eye brows.  I do not feel like that effects my FFA and the Botox makes me feel prettier.

Cosmetic surgery, Botox injections, and other cosmetic grooming methods, like waxing, manicure, or pedicure, helps people change their look attractively. Although it used to be considered the last step of the procedure, it is the first step. The idea behind it is to make you attractive by creating soft and smooth skin tissue, making you nobler overall. Botox & Dermal Filler training course offered by Dr Hennessy Ac... helps doctors improve their knowledge about this and achieve great results after this course.

I came across the article you mentioned about the possible link between Botox and FFA. It makes sense to be cautious about getting Botox if you already have indications of FFA.
