Clobetasol is used to stop the inflammation, which in turn is supposed to stop the itching. I will not cause new hair growth. From what I've read and been told, nothing will. Once the hair is gone, it is gone.
I use it in conjunction with Plaquenil, which is supposed to stop the hair loss, but I'm 6 months in now and I don't see a change.
I'm pretty sure I did not get any regrowth from using Clobetsol! It does however work to treat pain, tenderness and itching. I'm not sure what started the regrowth, but supposedly the Finasteride I'm taking is working. I honestly believe regrowth started form the acupuncture and especially from getting lymphatic drainage massage.
Interested to follow this discussion. I am just about to itch my eyebrows off (what is left of them) and my neck. I have been on Planquenil for about 4 months and due to see my dermo soon. Will ask about adding Clobetasol if it helps with the itch...... cause it's not fun. My head however is not itchy....
Jacq, my doctor warned me to only use topical steroids on my head because it can cause thinning of the skin & stretch marks. Clobetasol made my scalp extremely tender, so my doctor switched me to a topical Betamethesone after using it for a few months. The part of my head where I have the hairloss isn't extremely itchy, but I have terrible itching at the back of my neck where I haven't lost any hair (yet). I sometimes experience itching & tenderness on my forehead, which seems to baffle my doctor.
