My AA and mercury poisoning?

Posted on February 26, 2014 at 7:00pm 4 Comments

I have been reading some recent posts of members of this site who are watching their hair grow back--congratulations! It is a great feeling to see progress. I had my first major attack of AA in 2007 and lost about 70% of my hair. I wore a wig for a few months, and then it grew back pretty rapidly, and I was able to ditch the wig and add in extensions to even out the short areas.

During the summer/fall of 2007, I went to every doctor I could think of and had all sorts of blood work…

I have had JRA since the age of 5, am now 40. In 2011 my hair rapidly fell out and it left me completely hairless. In summer of 2014 I heard about the xeljanz story. Being that I had RA I talked to my doctor about trying. With some hesitation she agreed. I seen immediate results with eyelashes and eyebrows. In 1 year all my hair was back. However I just recently started methotrexate in addition to the xeljanz and now my hair is falling out again. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the methotrexate or just a relapse as I am still taking the xeljanz. I don't see a Dr. For alopecia just my RA which I will be seeing on the 20th. Not sure if I can handle loosing my hair again...
