Support and the Alopecian
My name is Jeffrey and I have had alopecia for 2 1/2 years.
I feel very lucky to have the wonderful support of my Husband Leo, my wonderful freinds here at Alopecia World and all my wonderful friends I've met at the last 2 NAAF Conferences, and wait theres more...All my friends from my local NAAF Support Group.

Don't ever give up
Just wanted to share some good news with you all.
At our NAAF support group this past wed night we had 2 members present who grew all there hair back over the summer. Yay!!! That makes 3 in our group now.

My First Anniversary with Alopecia & My First Blog...Fast Forward Second Anniversary
It has been a wonderful year indeed. Unexpected and unpredictable.

The Alopecian Closet...Are you in or out?

I wish there was a poll section on this site for such a question.
I am writing tonight in support of National Bald (now called International Alopecia Day).
This is an event for women with alopecia. The objective is to raise awareness and acceptance for bald women in society. What is asked of you is to organize, join or support a group of local alopecians…

Another Day
Leo's mother Helen is 83 and suffering from dementia.
She was living independently until last September. Her mental capacity has declined rather rapidly. We moved her to a Residential Assisted Living Facility but it didn't work out as she required more care.
We have since just moved her again to a small board and care home which is really nice. She is having a hard time ajusting to the change… Continue

What blood tests are relevent for alopecia?
I havent been to the doctor in ages and have an appt on monday. i figure I may as well be tested for everything. What are you sugestions?
The last time everything was normal. My thought are:
Thiroid Function
ANA
Iron Level
CBC
Testosterone level
Liver and Kidney Function
Syphilis
Any others you can think of that are relevent would be appreciated.

Today at the DMV
I had my appointment at the DMV today and was wondering what was going to happen.
The young woman at the desk asked me "is everything the same"
I reply to her "well not quite everything"
She looked at me for a few seconds and says "Well you still have brown hair dont you"
I reply "Nope not anymore"
We laugh hahaha and btw change my weight from 185 to 200 as well more chuckles

Turn your calendar back to March, 2008.
I was into my 8th month of my Alopecia Journey and feeling kinda, well... you know...blah.
I had been searching the web for information, and lo and behold it's Alopecia World!

Acceptance
I hope this new year is finding you well.
I'm writing about acceptance tonight. As you may know the slogan at Alopecia World is "Where acceptance is all there is. This holds esspecially true to me. I have been accepting me my entire life. Not only me but accepting of everyone.
