Rogaine for women. Who has tried this? Any thoughts on it would be much appreciated :)

Am looking at trying rogaine to help with my hair loss.

I heard they do a womens version.

Has anyone tried this? and if so any success?

Any thoughts and comments on this would be greatly appreciated :)

I have not tried Rogain for women. I decided to use the 5% (Men's Version) instead as it is a stronger formula. I'm almost done with my first bottle with no results yet. However I have not been consistent with the applications. I hope to do better with my next bottles. 2 more months to go.

No I have not, thought about it, but not yet. I should just for fun. Will let you know if I end up trying it. good luck. Please let us know how it works for you.

I use it - but the 5% twice a day per my derm. It has slowed the hair loss from FPB and it did help me regrow half of my eyebrow that fell out. I use it also on my AA spot but it is still the same - no bigger - no regrowth. It can make your scalp dry but not so much that I needed to stop and it can make your bio hair greasy. I tried the generic version but something in it irritated my scalp - so I went back to the name brand.

Yes, I used it for almost 8-9 years. I would suggest that you give it a try. You can purchase the Walgreen's version of it at a good price. If you purchase the 3 month supply, it is cheaper. I think that it helps to slow the progression of the hair loss. You could try the men's version (5%). I used it for a while, but then my dermatologist saw my head and told me to switch. If you use the 5%, watch out for irritation, redness or itch. It might be too much for your scalp. You could use the 2% once a day, and the 5% the other time. I did that for a while. If you try it, give it time to work. don't stop until you are completely ready. You can't really go back & start using it again later.

Yes I used it for a few years, but I used the 5% version like most here too, it worked great for me, really thickened up the hair that I had that was not effected by AA, but I did develope the sensitivity to it, never thought about switching to the womens strength, since I had to stop I've lost most of my hair, I never heard that you could not go back and use it again, would like to know more about that. It didn't stop the falling out phases I went through but it did make it grow back faster, it took a little while for me to notice in the begining, and I thought at first I losts a bunch of hair, and it really scared me, but was told to expect that. I would try the womens strenght now to see if it would not irritate my scalp, but if what Alliegator said is true, I guess I won't even try it. Good luck, if it works for you like it did me it's worth it. I also bought the Walgeens brand, much better deal.

I tried monoxidil for several years also for fpb and it never did a thing for me. Im actually starting a laser hair therapy regimen this friday for 12months. Laser lights.....the company showed me pics of many of their actual female clients and most have had great results.....this is my last stitch effort to improve my hairloss. Praying.....will let u know if and when i start to notice results for sure....

Yes. I tried it for 6 months (the men's version per doc's advice). I also tried the shots, creams, lotions, vitamins, etc and nothing worked. I am totally bald, have tatooed eyebrows and eyeliner and I am very very happy wearing wigs! Until I read or hear of some product or treatment that works for many or most and works long-term I will just "let it be". But I admit that being proactive gives some a sense of control and I would NEVER tell someone else to avoid a treatment with the possible exception of oral steroids, which have some really serious side-effects. Asking questions like you have done here is a good way to go. Get informed and try what you want to. Blessings.

My dermatologist suggested women's rogaine. It worked for awhile, and then my scalp became so dry and flaky I would scratch my scalp until it would bleed. After I discontinued usage, my hair fell out again.

I forgot one other thing, Rogaine can also cause hair to grow on other parts of your body. I never had hair on my chin or lip until I used it. Now I have to get it waxed. GEEZ, being a woman is tough.

At the end of the day, you have a lot of experiences here and much food for thought.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I wish you much success on whichever path you take.

I've had much success using Rogaine, the men's version though. I have a full head of hair now, and I've been using it for over a year now. I did get a golf ball sized spot on my head after I stopped treating my full head. But I started treating that spot and saw regrowth after only a month.

It's definitely worth a try, just don't give up it does take time.
Also suggest taking Biotin pills in combination with the Rogaine, I take 5-10,000 mgs every morning it's cheap and it helps your hair, skin and nails.

This week my dermatologist recommended Rogaine and I said, "Absolutely, not!" I told her that I've read about Rogaine and that I am not interesting in taking a product that is costs as much as Rogaine, especially when you consider that you have to continue taking it forever in order to maintain any hair gained from taking the product. My dermatologist respected me for my decision saying she understood.

In addition, I have friend who has been diagnosed with Alopecia, who tried Rogaine. While her hair grew significantly, after several weeks of not using the product all of her new growth fell. I have also read online that some people have tried it and after while it stopped working for them and thy believed their scalp because immune to it. I say tread softly.

Keeping looking – God is looking down!

Thanks for the comments and help regarding this everyone, much appreciated indeed. I think I might give the womens Rogaine a go first and see how that goes :)
