I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

That is so amazing Jckah!! Way to go, so happy for you! I only hope it continues to grow and grow and you get the pixie cut and more.

Thank you friends! I really appreciate the support!

Happy for your results and praying for everyone on xeljanz. I hope everyone has our success soon.  I am on week 11 and really happy with my success so far.

Hello Guys,
I just heard about new treatment in Colombia university it's calls ruxolitinib.
Any one have information about it?
Thank you
Sami

It's a JAK2 and 3 times as expensive. But it will be nice to see what a JAK2 can do. I look forward to the results.

Anyone decreasing their dose soon with full growth? My doctor is considering it but I am very nervous to be honest. My wedding is in nine months and I'd really love to have hair for it :-/ any insight would be appreciative. I know someone on 5mg every other day and she is still keeping her hair.
I just started taking 3 pills every other day to see if this works before going on 3 everyday. Maybe you can start slow and for a couple months alternate between a full and half dose.Has anyone one seen improvement yet who had to up their dosage and if you did how long did it take to see any growth.
Good luck I started 3 pills a few days also. Hoping it starts to work!
How long were you on 2 a day have you seen any growth
Dr king told me two weeks ago that because of my success he may soon decrease my dose. We discussed it being later this Fall.
anyone on the the xeljanz trials with no growth?
Maybe your the unlucky few who are given a placebo (sugar pill).
Every trial has them.

I've read this entire discussion and xeljanz seems very promising. But I don't know where to begin in order to start xeljanz. Should I contact a dermatologist, an endocrinologist, a rheumatologist or someone else abt this issue. I rly want to try out Xeljanz but I don't know how to get started. What are the steps required to get prescribed xeljanz for alopecia. I rly appreciate the help.
