I was diagnosed with FFA about a year ago. Last August I noticed lot of hair loss. Then it seemed to slow during the winter & Spring. All the way through July, then in August it flared up again. I’m still losing hair just like last year. I did change my sunscreen from the bad ingredients in them that I read on this website. Just wondering anyone else notice a pattern?

I was diagnosed a year and a half ago. I noticed but didn't realize I had the same pattern you describe last July & August and this year. Last year I chalked it up to stress ( moving, building a house, living in a trailer). This year the same thing though I am settled and not stressed (retired, doing fun things etc). Very interesting observation! I also switched sun screens though that can take time to get out of your system, depending on the half life of the chemicals. A year ago I switched to an AIP diet. Though I feel better it doesn't seem to slow or stop the hair loss.
Thanks for replying. Strange isn’t it? I have had no stress at all. So I don’t know what could be causing it. Guess we might never know.
I've noticed this too. I've been stable for a couple years and then all of a sudden this spring I started shedding lots of hair again. I was wondering if it's due to allergies--tree pollen in spring and ragweed now. Nothing else has really changed--diet or stress levels are same.
I don't notice more hair loss at certain times of the year but what I do notice is differences in the sensitivity of my scalp. This summer has been very hot here and it's been driving me crazy. I try and forget about all this but it's hard. No idea how I could ever wear a wig. Awful. . .
Thanks AnnieMay for your comment. My head has been very sensitive this summer. I have been thinking it is due to wearing hats a lot more. I'm trying to wear more sunscreen clothing and big hats so I don't have to use sunscreen very often. The combination of being fair skinned, living at 7,500 foot elevation and my active outdoor lifestyle leaves me vulnerable to sunburn. I've wondered if wearing hats (my head gets hot and itches) has been part of the excessive hair loss this summer. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
Interesting observation! I too notice more hair loss during the times my sinuses are acting up, particularly in the late summer early fall when the mold is high. I've always wondered if this condition is related to allergies.
Wow! This is exactly the same as me. I thought I was going a little bonkers when I used to think mine was seasonal. Every time my AA has decided to flare up or get very bad is always within the months of May to August. This year it is bad again after a couple of years of being stable, found my firth spot in April and it got progressively worse within July and August. I wondered what it could be?
I notice more loss different periods but haven’t noticed it being a certain time of year. Rather I relate it to stress or I’m wondering if it’s connected to what I eat or what I’m putting on my head ( shampoo, coloring, etc)
