I am letting you all know of my trial of using cannabis oil tincture on my hairline for the past 4 months. I was diagnosed with FFA about 5 years ago. I have used finasteride and clobetasol as well as tried steroid injections and doxycycline. I also went on an autoimmune protocol diet for almost a full year. I believe that the diet made a big difference in my inflammation but my problem was sticking with it religiously. I have not been willing to use the stronger anti inflammatory drugs like cellcept. I have lost my eyebrows completely and hair above my ears and my hairline is greatly receded. I am lucky because I began with a lot of hair that is hiding most of my loss. I had continued to have redness and irritation and hair loss until lately. In late January after listening to other friends who have used cannabis tinctures for arthritis and other conditions it dawned on me that it would be worth trying. I had just finished a couple of months of doxycycline that reduced the redness but made me feel crappy. I also do not want to take so much antibiotic. I stopped taking it and more inflammation returned. I told my dermatologist that I wanted to try a CBD oil tincture and he gave the go ahead as it would not be harmful. I applied a tincture to my red hairline in the morning and evening every day for the past 4 months. Slowly and progressively the inflammation has calmed down and greatly improved to almost gone. I have also had some return hair growth where I had most recently lost some hair. my hairline looks so much more normal now. Showed my dermatologist last week and he was very very impressed and said he never has seen my hairline look this good. With his encouragement I am continuing. I am now going to let go of the finasteride and we are going to check in in three months to see how I am doing. I do believe that the tinctures have been a very powerful healing medicine and I am so excited with my results. I want you to know. There needs to be more trials of this approach to see if others get the great results that I have had. The problem is that it is not available every where. I am in California and it is now legal to buy this medicinal grade tincture. There is hemp oil available in health food stores and if that is all you can get you can try but I have been told that it is not the same powerful quality that you get in a dispensary....thus it is legal everywhere. The tinctures I have used with CBDA and THCA do not have psychoactive effects when used on the skin. They are also in a nice coconut oil base that is good on your skin. If you are interested I will give more info about what I am using........I am continuing and think it has indeed made a huge difference. So hopeful for me. I will update with a post in three more months. Thanks, and good luck out there with this nasty FFA.

Robin,
thank you for sharing! This is so encouraging - unfortunately I live in a state trying to legalize medical marijuana but we are not there yet. There has got to be something better than the tactics we have available in western medicine right now!
Robin,
That is great news! I'm happy for you. I would like more information about the formulas you are using. I live in Colorado so it won't be a problem to get it and use it. I just bought some CBD cream a friend made from hemp she grows but I have been thinking there must be something stronger & better tested. Thanks for your offer to share the information! Diane
I have entered this trial with little knowledge....of course there just is little knowledge any way but a friend who had results with another condition guided me. I am using CBDA Tincture and Wellness Cannabis Tincture, both made by "Treat Well" right now. They are medicinal grade made from not just hemp but cannabis flowers. I use the CBDA in the morning and the other before I go to bed. I have been religious about it. I use about 1/3 of a dropper full but that will depend on how big of an area is needed. I go from one temple to the other. I rub it in well. You can look up the web page for Treat Well products to try and find a comparison of what you have in your area.
Cannabis is said to be highly anti inflammatory....that is why I tried it and I know the clobestol that is proscribed is not very effective. If you can easily get this it is worth a shot. I am a true believer and so relieved. I will keep posting....and I hope others out there try it too.....they are doing studies now on cannabis and autoimmune diseases and to be used as an anti rejection therapy for transplant....pretty powerful.
Thank you for the detail Robin. One of the dispensaries in my town has a very knowledgable owner who used to be in the product creation end of the business. This weekend I was thinking I should talk to her this week and up popped your message. Thanks again! If I find out anything interesting I will post it to this thread. Very powerful indeed!
The CBDa tincture on the Treat Well site has been sold-out for quite a while. I found a Colorado source yesterday. A retired Chiropractor Herbal Pharmacist and his wife started High Country Hemp Farm to raise their own organic hemp and make medicinal grade products. I bought their Hemp Oil Extract tincture, similar to the CBDa Robin uses. I also bought their Hemp Oil Softgels to take once a day for overall inflammation and to help with sleep. Their oils are full spectrum not isolates which means they have all of the 500 plus terpenes and other plant benefits. https://www.highcountrylab.com/products is where you can order. They say they can ship to all 50 states.
I will use the tincture on my scalp for 30 days and report back. I have a medical pot shop looking into the other tincture for me. In the meantime I will use this one. Thanks for the inspiration Robin!
Good Luck, Give it at least a month or more. I am still improving (4 1/2 months)...I love looking at my hairline now as I see the tremendous progress and only a little of that awful inflamed look....hair is growing back in at the hairline and filling in that scraggle look.......I know I will not get the hair that is forever lost but I am so so so encouraged......May it work for you too.........
I looked for how the High Country Hemp product worked for you? Can you repost? I am in the process of transitioning to some type of cannabis oil but am on my own as I can not find a dermatologist that will assist. So any info is so helpful!
Hi Dianna, I have never used that product. Guess you are asking Diart about her experience.....I have had to switch product once and will have to again because the availability is not consistant but still working to get a high CBDA product....it is still helping......I will not stop it as it is not gone but still so much better....good luck.
Yes Robin. I went to their website to have a look. Which product is the exact one you are using. I don’t see any that say for what the ailment is.
It does not say the ailment. I am trying this on my own...it can be found in the tinctures section, The CBDA Tincture and the Wellness Formula Tincture (has a combination of CBD and THC). When applied to the skin there will be no psychoactive effects. I do believe any of the tinctures with THC when ingested will give a high. I only applied it to my hairline directly. I am using both types to cover all bases.........
Hi Robin,
I have used the CBD hemp oil 250 mg. for 3 months, morning and night, and am cautiously optimistic. I see a little improvement. I would love for my light, scraggy sides to fill in. I have gone to wigs, and maybe not using products on my hair has helped. Do you have an update on your temples and hairline. How much have they improved, etc? Thank you!
Hi, it took a while to see the improvement.....It wasn't until 4 months until I felt confident that it was easing some of the inflammation......the only fill in was with hair that had very recently I lost....I dont think I have lost any more this year since beginning this topical treatment, the redness is not all gone but so improved. I feel very good about it and I am continuing....stay with it......it will not hurt you and it is known that cannabis is a great anti inflammatory.....I say much better than clobetasol, that did nothing......I am also not taking the finasteride any more.......
