Newly diagnosed with FFA

Have any of you with FFA done any kind of blood panels looking for potential sensitivity to chemicals, food additives, food, etc. it looks for antigens in your blood that react to any of the above mentioned allergens. It’s a pretty extensive array of tests and is expensive, not covered by insurance. But considering this is auto-immune disorder that attacks your hair follicles, something has to be triggering this. So I know I shouldn't be shock or numb but for the past 4 yrs I have been so blessed with a lil one who know no different when it come to someone with or without hair. he runs around like nothing is wrong and I'm so grateful for that.

Cushings syndrome and Alopecia Areata changing to Universalis?

It will be a year now since i have shaved my head. Well the few patches of hair that still stood strong. And i can say this year has been a crazy train. I was getting steroid injections every 4 weeks last year up until the point i shaved my head. Soon after, i noticed a hump on my upper back. I also gained some weight. Came to find out i developed Cushings Syndrome from the steroids. Long story short i am still battling weight loss and still have the buffalo hump......

An anecdote from when I was a kid...the time my hat fell off!!

I was 16 - I had a full head of hair for the first time since I was 3. I started taking birth control pills, which totally set my hair progress back to zero - if you're a girl in her teens with alopecia, just don't. I was completely bald again for the first time since I was a toddler. I decided to completely shave my head rather than look at the thinning gold curls that remained on my head every day.…

"Your haircut makes you look like a serial killer..."

Everyday, I seem to find some way to blame myself and my own body for giving me alopecia at such a crucial time of my life. I hold on to too many things in my life and my hair loss is one of them.
